Happy Endings  This is why we do rescue, for the love of the animals.
Faith the 2-Legged Wonder Dog was a puppy living under a house trailer. Her 2 hind legs were entangled in wire until they rotted off. She was infested with fleas & parasites. When it rained she would drink from muddy puddles. She was tossed scraps now & then by her owners. Alexis rescued Faith & nursed her back to health. Faith was loving & seemed so very grateful! Still, we worried that no one would want a 2 -legged dog. We put her on pet finder.  Laura adopted Faith & had a special cart made for her. Today, Faith is an integral part of Laura's family. Quentin We weren't sure what type of critter he was when we first saw him! His fur fell out from mange, giving him a 'possum' like appearance. He waddled & bumped into thing due to poor eye sight. Despite serious medical problems, his delightful personality  shone through. He was neutered, vaccinated & treated for mange. With the help of another rescue group, Quentin was adopted into a loving his family members.petfinder.org-~WV32-images-possum3_f.jpg (26057 bytes)
Boots was rescued by Alexis& was fostered by Elizabeth in Tampa Fl. He was adopted by a local family. The Mom and Dad work on Mac Dill Air force base. They have acreage with ducks.  Lucky Boots!! Penny was a very sad beagle in a cage at a "dog trader's" trailer in West Virginia. She was headed for a laboratory. Alexis bought Penny & saved her life. Penny was fostered by Elizabeth in FL. Cindy & Dave Anders saw Penny on pet finder, & drove 2 hours to adopt her. Today Penny (pictured left) lives with Cindy, "Babs", & Dave. Thank you Cindy & Dave.
Johnny lived for many years with his elderly owner WV. After she died, Johnny was alone. He begged for food & scavenged in trash dumps. He became emaciated & developed mange. Then he was hit by a car, leaving his hind leg badly broken. Still, no one helped him. One day Alexis spotted him along a back road, he was rescued! Johnny spent months recuperating at a vet clinic. His leg was amputated. He spent years as a foster dog with Alexis. Dr. Lori Ransohoff became his 'Fairy Godmother' paying for a portion of his vet bill. Johnny was spotted on pet finder by Mary & lives in quiet comfort in KY. Pal Lori  read about the little dog who had waited years to be adopted. She thought he was the dog for her. But how to get Pal from WV to her home in NY? Several transport plans failed. Months passed. Still, Lori wanted Pal. She was determined to give him a home. Finally, Alexis borrowed a truck & drove 12 hours one way to bring Pal to his new home. Thanks for waiting for Pal!
Spot was a homeless pointer mix who lived in a cage for 2 years. No one adopted Spot because she was so timid. She trembled when anyone came close. Spot was a painfully thin. too nervous to eat. BLACKIE was found along the road near a coal mine. Both Spot & Blackie were fostered by a volunteer with SWVHS. The 2 dogs became close friends. Spot & Blackie were adopted together by Jane & Frank. Within 6 months, Spot lost much of her fear & doubled her weight. Spot loves to stand in the rain, swim in the lakes, & go for long walks in the woods. Blackie is a happy dog, devoted to Spot & his forever family. Thank you Jane & Frank! Church Puppies Several puppies were abandoned at a church. One of these "church puppies" was adopted by Elizabeth & 2 were adopted by Johanna.

We found Linus living under a trailer. He had a serious open wound, mange, worms & was severely malnourished. Despite his condition, his loving personality shone through. He became a favorite at the foster home. Cindy (a Border Collie rescue person) read about Linus on our petfinder site. He now lives with Cindy and her family along with 2 other Border Collies. Thank you Cindy!!

Lucy like many of our rescued animals had been a long term foster resident.  Luckily for Lucy she was adopted by Martha & now shares her life with Shadow the cat.

No one realized that Teddy was badly wounded until his foster mom gave him a bath when he arrived. His wounds, from a dog bite, were severe, requiring surgery to repair them.
