Dalmatian  Overland Transport Service

What  is Dalmatian Overland Transport Service (DOTS)?
DOTS is an organization which transports rescued Dalmatians around the United States. It involves LOTS of volunteers willing to drive approximately 100-300 miles (one way) to help move the rescued Dalmatian.

TO JOIN DOTS, there are two steps. Please complete both. Once you complete the DOTS sign-up form below, you will need to go to yahoogroups.com and subscribe to our list: DOTS@yahoogroups.com. DON'T FORGET THAT STEP. WE NEED BOTH THE APPLICATION COMPLETED AND THEN YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE TO THE LIST.

  1. Complete an online DOTS application
  2. Sign up for the DOTS list

The ability to move these dogs from one state to another without having to pay the exorbitant airfares is one of the main stumbling blocks to saving more Dalmatians. What we need is DOTS -- people in all the states who would be willing to drive 100 or so miles in one direction to transport a rescue Dalmatian through their area. Think of the opportunities...the warm feeling in your heart knowing that you've helped place a Dalmatian with a loving family; meeting another Dalmatian lover who will take the dog on the next leg of its journey, and so on!

Remember...if you have friends or family in another state who might be interested in becoming part of DOTS, pass the word and get them involved!

Another viable method of transporting rescue Dalmatians is with a human companion!  If we have some folks who travel frequently on business and they would be willing to have a dog shipped with them, that would be wonderful. The cost of shipping a dog as a companion with a human is only around $50-$75  whereas shipping a dog alone is over $200. Quite a big difference!

If you have ever considered getting involved in rescue ... here's a way to do it! Many Dalmatian lovers network across the country through e-mail lists like DalmatianRescue@yahoogroups.com or Dalrescue@yahoogroups.com  . If you are interested in working with some of them, all you need to do is go to http://www.yahoogroups.com/ and subscribe to that list.

I, along with the rest of the DOTS Organizing Committee, look forward to hearing from you.
