DIRECTIONS TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER OF PELL CITY & ST. CLAIR COUNTY

  • Directions from I-20 East/West.  Take Exit 158 on to Hwy 231 South.  Go south approximately 3.5 miles to Hwy 34.  Turn left on to Hwy 34.  Go 0.5 mile to a three-way stop.  Turn left.  You have the right of way, but watch traffic from all directions!  Go past the Pell City Civic Center and Lakeside Park (on your right) and at the top of the hill get in the left turn lane.  When clear, turn left on to Mays Bend Drive , then take an immediate left onto Golf Course Road .  Go 1.6 miles – you will pass the Country Club and golf course (on your right).  Take a right onto Airport Road .  Go 0.2 miles to the top of the hill – the Shelter is on the left
  • Directions from Hwy 231 North (Ashville).  Go south on Hwy 231 until you cross over I-20 – just past Wal-Mart.  Then follow the directions in bold text above.
  • Directions from Hwy 78 East ( Riverside ). From the I-20 Bridge on Hwy 78, drive 1.9 miles west (toward Pell City ).  Turn left at the Citgo Station onto Truss Ferry Road .  Cross the rail road tracks, then go 0.7 miles to a 4-way stop.  Turn right onto Golf Course Road .  Go 1.1 miles.  Turn left onto Airport Road .  Go 0.2 miles to the top of the hill – the Shelter is on the left.
  • Directions from Hwy 174 (Branchville, Odenville, Springville).  Travel on Hwy 174 until you reach Hwy 231 South.  Turn Right.  Travel south on Hwy 231 until you reach the Wal-Mart Shopping Center .  From that point, follow the directions in bold above.
  • Directions from Hwy 231 South (Cropwell).  Beginning at Lakeside Landing (across Hwy 231 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church ) go north on Hwy 231 1.9 miles.  Turn right onto Cropwell Drive (just before Sears).  Go 0.3 miles to a 3-way stop.  Traffic coming from your left has the right of way.  Once clear, go straight past the Civic Center and Lakeside Park .  Follow the underlined bolded directions above.
  • From Hwy 34 ( Stemley Bridge ). Take Hwy 231 (toward Pell City ) 3.5 miles.  Turn right onto Mays Bend Road (just past St. Simon Episcopal Church).  Take the immediate left on to Golf Course Road .  Go 1.6 miles – you will pass the Country Club and golf course (on your right).  Take a right onto Airport Road .  Go 0.2 miles to the top of the hill – the Shelter is on the left.
