Cats, Cats, and More Cats

We have a wide variety of cats ranging in color, size, age, color pattern, and breed. We welcome you to come to our shelter and take a look around to find that special cat that will warm your lap. If you are just looking for an afternoon with love and affection (and even sometimes funny stunts!) feel free to come up and spend a little time with our furry felines! Summer is the worst time for stray cats. Consider adopting an adult that has lost their home over a kitten - with love and patience, adult cats make the best pets!

Who We Are

We are a non profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals. We depend totally on donations and the kindness of the people in the area we serve. We provide a number of services that can not be found at just any shelter. We pick up stray animals, we offer a low cost spay neuter program, we have live traps for rent, we sell county dog licenses, we offer lost and found services, and animal cruelty investigations as well as many other public services. If you are interested in employing any of our services, feel free to call us 7 days a week from 10 am to 3 pm. We are dedicated to saving as many animals as we can. We hope to find them loving permanent new homes that they can enjoy and where they can enrich the lives of the people who adopt them. We accept owner releases but you must call for an appointment first to ensure that we have space available. -

Donate a Bed We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

Health benefits of spaying and nuetering

Dogs and cats do not have the emotional need to reproduce that human beings may experience. Unspayed females have a higher risk for serious disease than animals that have been spayed. Breast cancer is a serious killer of dogs. Spaying your cat or dog before the age of one makes developing breast cancer nearly impossible. The risk of ovarian cancer is completely removed through spaying. Unneutered male dogs and cats can develop unsightly behavioral problems such as spraying, lifting their legs, mounting legs, and they can be harder to train. Neutering is a safe and effective way to combat these and many other problems, not to mention ensuring the animals health.

Adopting a Friend

We are here 7 days a week from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM for adoptions. We have a wide variety of dogs and cats to choose from, including purebreds. Our adoption process is as follows:

All of our dogs must be kept as indoor and companion dogs only. All dogs must be spayed/neutered within one month of adoption or by 6 months of age.

All dogs have their DHLPP combo, Bordatella vaccine, and are wormed. You will recieve a collar and an SPCA ID tag with your new dog.

Dog / puppy adoption fee is $90 and does include their spaying / neutering if you choose to utilize our clinic, We require a $30 deposit on the spaying/neutering of our dogs that haven't been altered before leaving the shelter.

If you have another dog currently residing with you, we ask that you bring your dog along just so we can be sure there will be no huge personality clashes. Otherwise, we do not garauntee how our dog will get along with yours and the risk is yours for the taking.

All of our cats must be kept as indoor and companion cats. All cats must be spayed/neutered within one month of adoption or by 6 months of age.

All cats have their FVCRP combo, are tested for feline leukemia, and are wormed. You will recieve a cardboard pet carrier with your new pet along with a goodie bag filled with goodies and literature to help your new cat adjust to your home.

Cat/kitten adoption fee is $55 and does include the spaying/neutering if you choose to utilize our clinic. We require a $20 deposit on the spaying/netuering of our cats which is refunded as soon as proof is shown of the completion of the procedure.

We do reserve the right to refuse any adoption if we feel the situation is not in the best interest of the animal in question. Please understand that we only want what is best for our best friends!

Are You A Responsible Pet Owner?

Being a respsonsible pet owner means a lot of things. First and foremost, it means having your pet spayed or neutered not only for your pets health and safety, but to become part of the solution to pet overpopulation. It also means having your pet checked over by your veterinarian on a yearly basis and keep it up to date yearly with vaccinations. As time marches on, more and more vets are convinced that the key to a healthy life for your pet are regular check ups and preventative medicine. And then the final piece to the puzzle of responsible pet ownership is having the proper identification on your pet at all times. This means a collar and tags on your pet ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. Even if your pet only ventures outside for a quick potty break, the law still mandates there to be proper identification on your pet. More pets would be safely returned home if there was proper identification on them. So what is a pet owner to do with a pet that just doesnt want to keep their tags on? Have you ever thought about a microchip? You might ask what a microchip is. Is it really safe? How invasive is the placement of the chip? How does it work? Well, you are in luck. There is plenty of information about micrchipping and even a way to purchase this lifelong, safe, proven method of identification on the HomeAgainId.com website. Just point and click on the link below and you too can ensure your beloved pet's return should anything unfortunate happen to your pet. Please consider permanent ID for your pet!!

Volunteering and Donations

Volunteers are welcome. To volunteer your time at the shetler, call us to set up times and days. Volunteering your time at the shelter isn't the only way to help the animals. For instance, taking up collections at work, donating items for the animals, helping with fundraisers, or simply participating in one of our many events throughout the year help us so very much. Donations are always invited and greatly appreciated as we are a non-profit organization! If you would like to donate anything other than food, we have an extensive wish list we can supply you with for ideas!
