Who We Are

The goal of Wyoming Australian Shepherd Rescue is to help place Australian Shepherds in loving, permanent homes or in service careers. Wyoming Aussie Rescue does not place dogs for any breeding purposes whatsoever. Wyoming Aussie Rescue does not place dogs for any kind of guard duty, home, or business. Dogs are placed in carefully screened homes through the use of specific rules and procedures.

Aussies in need of new homes from nearby states are listed as well. Aussie mixes and other herding breed needing new homes are listed. Wyoming Aussie Rescue was formed in 1998 by a VERY small group of volunteers dedicated to helping this wonderful breed.

Adopting a friend

To learn more about an Aussie listed, E-mail us and we will be happy to answer any questions. For Aussie mixes listed, owner referral Aussies and other herding breeds, please contact the person for that dog.

After the completion of the adoption application a Wyoming Australian Shepherd Rescue representative will contact you. After a review of the application and reference check, an in home check is sheduled whenever possible. In Wyoming this is tough because of the distance between towns. The in home checks serve multiple purposes. Often times the rescue representative that is doing the home check will bring one of their Aussies to the potential adopters home. This gives the adopter the oppurtunity to see what is like to to have an Auusie in the house and meet an Aussie in person. This also gives the rep the oppurtunity to get a feel for the environment the "to be adopted" Aussie will be living in. We want to be sure that we have the best possible match between dog and owner.

In cases of long distance adoptions, which in Wyoming is quite common, the responsibility of transportation for the adopted Aussie is that of the adopters. When possible, Australian Shepherd Rescue of Wyoming will assist. We have a fairly good network of transporters willing to transport dogs when need arises.

In Wyoming and neighboring states send an E-mail to WyoASR@gmail.com to adopt, surrender, or list a dog on the web site. For additional information on any dogs listed please contact the listed person below the dogs biography.

Foster homes are in huge demand. We can place a lot of dogs if we have temporary homes where they can stay while waiting for that forever home. Acting as a foster home serves as a very important key to the success of any rescue program. If you would like to help in this aspect please send E-mail to WyoASR@gmail.com or dogsetc@fiberpipe.com
