The story behind each of our rescued pets varies. Some pets are simply abandoned. Some are abused. Some are given up for adoption when owners relocate and find they can't take their pets with them. Some pets find their way into our hospital when their owners can no longer afford the added expense of a pet with a medical problem and must either euthanize or surrender their pet, or when a good samaritan brings in a sick or injured stray. The Humane Society, who does everything they can for these pets, is all too often filled beyond capacity and cannot accept any more pets at that particular time, and people often turn to us. The sad and simple fact that we are not the Humane Society - we are a business - makes it impossible for us to take in every pet that is in need of a home. However, there are occasions when it is possible and practical to give an animal a second chance. Most of these pets have found wonderful homes: in 2002 we sucessfully placed 15 cats and 10 dogs, and that's how Chase, Ninny and Domino came to live here years ago!
