Our Big News

DEARBORN, Mich., April 15, 2008 – Angelique Parker of Bellaire, Ohio was awarded a brand new Ford vehicle today – and she’s giving it away. Ford Motor Company selected Parker to be a prize winner of its “Watch & Give” contest, which challenged Ford owners across the country to create a plan to give back to their communities. Parker’s plan benefits Webark Animal Shelter. Parker was one of 10 winners selected from more than 1,100 Ford owners who hosted viewing parties across the nation during the April 6, 9/8c, episode of ABC’s hit show “Oprah’s Big Give.” As a way to parallel the charitable philosophy of the show, party attendees had the chance to win by answering a question about “Oprah’s Big Give” correctly and submitting the name of the deserving individual or organization to whom they would award one new Ford vehicle. For Angelique Parker, being chosen as a national winner is important to her family, which includes husband Rickie and daughters Harlei and Lexus. She originally entered the competition on behalf of her daughter, who suffers from brain and spinal cancer. “My daughter has had cancer for over seven years and she loves nothing more than her two cats that constantly keep her company. I made a vow to my daughter that if we won this competition, we would give the vehicle to an organization that loves animals as much she does,” said Angelique. “’Programs like ‘The Big Give’ and ‘Watch & Give,’ allow Ford to extend its commitment to making a difference in local communities nationwide,” said Connie Fontaine, Ford Experiential Marketing Manager. To help raise awareness of the April 6 house parties, Ford teamed up with House Party, a company that develops and launches a thousand or more highly engaging parties in the homes of consumers, all of which take place on the same day. The parties are attended by the host's friends, families, neighbors and co-workers, and shared by millions more who experience the party via the Internet. Our Accomplishments

Webark finds homes for dogs, cats, rabbits, and fancy rats in their care, and also has a "matchmaker" service that helps owners find homes for pets they are unable to keep. Webark's feral cat program has prevented thousands of litters of unwanted kittens from being born, and hundreds of cats have been spayed or neutered, and vaccinated, thru the program. Some Webark fundraisers include the Spaghetti Dinner/Auction the 2nd Friday of October at the Elm Grove Civics, the "Beast of a Sale" Yard Sale in the Spring, Christmas Pet Pictures at Prestige Photography in Wheeling, WV, in November, & the Webark 5K Run & Walk, organized by the Ohio Valley Runners & Walkers Club. We have an additional yard sale in late summer or fall. We collect items year-round for the Auction and yard sales; please call if you are "spring cleaning" and pickup can be arranged. We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. We can always use more beds, because the cats like them too!
