Summer Updates
Caring for your pets and our Wish List
The Dog Days of Summer are almost here and we would like to remind pet owners about caring for your pets. Flea and tick season started early this year and you need to keep your dogs and cats protected. Talk to your veterinarian about which preventatives are best for your pets and home and also about protecting against lyme disease, heartworm, and intestinal parasites. Keep your pets vaccinations up to date including a rabies vaccine. Most vet offices sponsor clinics throughout the summer with discounted prices. Most importantly spay and neuter your pets! Always provide clean fresh water everyday, and on extremely hot days you should check water bowls at least twice a day.
During the summer months adoptions slow down at most shelters as do donations. We are always in need of the following items to help provide the daily care and maintenance at our shelter and foster homes:
bleach, household cleaners, heavy duty brooms, bales of straw, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, laundry detergent, cat litter, cat and kitten chow, high quality canned dog food, dog treats and bones, office supplies such as copy paper, pens, tablets, and scissors, puppy shampoo, and large bath or beach towels.

Who We Are
We are a local Humane Society established March 2001. Our city's shelter is worked by the Humane Society's volunteers and a full time dog warden. We are dedicated in trying to save every animal that comes into the shelter. We are an upbeat and hopeful team.
Monthly Meetings: 4th Thursday every month
Call the shelter for dates, time and location 304-265-4215
We welcome new, hardworking, and honest volunteers. The shelter needs daily help with cleaning, feeding, walking, socializing, grooming, maintnenance and other jobs. The Humane Society would like some dedicated people to help assist with fundraising, providing foster homes, transportation to vet offices and rescues, and public education.
