IMPORTANT: WE TAKE ONLY E-MAIL INQUIRIES INITIALLY. AND WE DO NOT RESPOND TO ANONYMOUS E-MAILS. EQUALLY IMPORTANT: WE PLACE LOCALLY IF POSSIBLE.
We'll be glad to respond, but ONLY if you send us your name, first AND LAST, and your city/state, AS WELL AS some basic information about you and your family, what pets you own currently, and any other general information you'd like to add that can help us evaluate what would be a good match for you and your family. We may ask further questions later, and we do home visits, so if either of those are bothersome to you, we'd suggest you seek another agency through which to adopt.
Noah's Ark is a non-profit, two-person volunteer organization, that strives to keep pets out of area shelters, while placing them from their former owner's home. In the case of 'strays', they are placed in foster care while awaiting adoption.
99% of our adult pets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, [in some situations however, due to time constraints, this is done following adoption], are current on distemper-parvo vaccinations and wormings, and in most cases, have had the kennel cough preventive. Some have also had flea treatments, if necessary, such as capstar, advantage, or frontline, and often, heartworm test and basic bloodwork. Our adoption fees are usually around $125 depending on our expenses. Sterilization deposits are required for puppy adoptions.
PLEASE NOTE AGAIN: WE PLACE LOCALLY IF POSSIBLE. LOCAL IS WHEELING, WV.
IMPORTANT: To repeat: WE TAKE ONLY E-MAIL INQUIRIES INITIALLY. We'll be glad to respond, but ONLY if you send us your name, first AND LAST, and your city/state, AS WELL AS some basic information as mentionned above. And please, don't e mail us unless all adults in household are in agreement about getting a dog..
*********** We will NOT respond to anonymous e-mails, or first-name-only e-mails, or those that don't say what city/state is their residence. Sorry, it is too time-consuming. And NO, we do NOT "ship", to anywhere, any place, any time.
If you have a dog already, we'll want you to bring your dog, so it and the prospective 'new addition' to the family can meet, and their compatability be evaluated. The same applies to children.
Whenever possible, we place locally. Logistically, long-distance adoptions can be problematic, as our procedures involve at least a couple of trips to Wheeling, which means the entire family [spouses/other adults in the home/the kids/the dog] to meet with us and the proposed pet. Generally, we do not adopt on the spot.
We work out of former owners' homes, and foster homes, as we have no 'facility' as such. We make appointments with folks, to show the dogs or puppies, and choose appropriate, convenient-as-possible settings and locations, to meet with prospective adoptors. IMPORTANT: We take only e-mail inquiries intially. We'll be glad to respond, but ONLY if you send us your name, first AND LAST, and your city/state, AS WELL AS other general information mentionned above.
