The Giles County Animal Shelter is located in a small rural community. Giles County Animal Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer group of just a few members who work directly with the county animal shelter to improve the adoption rates. In 1999 the kill rate at the pound was 100%, there were no open hours for the shelter. A small group of volunteers decided to do something about that. Our current adoption rate is at approximately 40%.
Giles County now has a new animal shelter. The new facility took in animals at the end of July 2003.
To adopt a dog from the county facility you must sign an agreement stating that the dog will be spayed/neutered within 30 days (consideration is given for puppies).
For pets that are adopted from the rescue group itself there is an application process, we do home visit to let you meet the pet and let the pet meet you, check references and most of the time require an adoption fee.
We have a variety of animals looking for homes.
We're located out in Giles County, VA. If you need directions, please feel free to email me at marilyn1@i-plus.net!!
