ABOUT SOS
SOS is a registered 501C(3) nonprofit, humane organization dedicated
to creating second chances for shelter dogs and cats. Through unique
programs such as Pen Pals SOS and private support from individuals
like you, SOS is able to rescue, socialize and re-home hundreds
of homeless animals each year.

About Pen Pals
SOS Pen Pals is a unique partnership between Save Our Shelters (SOS)
 and the Virginia Department of Corrections.  Designed to lower
the rate of euthanasia in Virginia’s public shelters, SOS Pen Pals also
promotes rehabilitation and provides job skills to the inmate caregivers.
The correctional centers benefit from an environment with less tension
as well as improved communication between inmates and staff. The
Pen Pals Cat Shelter is located at the Pocahontas Correctional Unit in
Chesterfield County, VA.
