Who We Are

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization that strives to provide proper rehoming for several breeds, primarily Saint Bernards, Labs, and Dachshunds. We do on ocassion take in other breeds when foster space is available hence the more. Our adoption process is intense so be prepared. We do not have a shelter facility we operate with a network of foster homes. Fostering is the hardest job we have in rescue, but if you can do it, it is the most rewarding job we have. It is very difficult to take a dog into your home, treat it like one of your own and then give it to another family. If you think you have what it takes to give these sweet dogs a temporary home, contact us. We would love to have you!

We have monthly support meetings. They are held the third Sunday of every month If you are not sure about fostering join us at one of our meetings to see what it is all about. We would love to have you!

Our Adoption Process

The following will explain the adoption process

* To be part of the family and considered a family member.

* Home checks are done prior to placing our pets with their new family.

* The family must agree to keep their pet current on vaccines, heartworm prevention, and flea prevention in accordance with their vets advice.

* All current pets in home must be altered prior to placement of the adopted pet

* The new family must sign an Adoption Application and Adoption Contract.

* The new family must be willing to pay the adoption fee.

* If you are a renter, you will need to include a letter from your landlord stating that it is ok to have a pet They also need to specify size restrictions. The letter will need to have landlord's address and phone number on it. A copy of your lease will also be needed.

1) Fill out & return adoption application - be as detailed and complete as possible.Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once your application is recieved we will verify your references and arrange for a volunteer to do step 2. We require a physical address on the application, no PO box please.

2) Home visit/personal interview. A MASMRF volunteer will call you to make an appointment to come and do your personal interview.We use the information gathered to do step 3.

3) Meeting with dogs - this is the fun part. MASMRF will take all the information gathered and put it together to help you choose a dog. We want to make sure that the dog you finally choose will be a match for your home and lifestyle. Once you have chosen a dog, we move on to step 4.

4) Sign adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Now you are a Saint Bernard owner!

I am sure you are saying "Why should I go through all this trouble for a dog?"

Good question! Adding a new dog to your life should be a well thought out decision. Not an impulse purchase! When you adopt an animal, you should be willing to commit to that animal for its entire life. All of the pets we get into the program have been through at least one home. We place these dogs into homes that we feel will care for them for the rest of their lives. Our screening process has the dogs best interest at heart. We want to match you and the dog perfectly. Our adoption process is in-depth and can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month depending on your preferences and the dogs needs. This is an organization staffed completly by volunteers, so please be patient. Remember, anything worth having is worth waiting for!
