We are an organization dedicated to saving orphaned kittens and puppies. We specialize in neonate care of kittens. We are concentrating our efforts to rescue the orphaned pets of our society. Though we specialize in kittens we do on occasion have other pets available. As long as we have foster space available we want to help as many as we can.
Our foster homes are inspected by the director on a regular basis. We insist on providing more than basic care for all our pets in rescue. We may not have as many pets available for adoption than some organizations. We believe fewer pets in a foster home enables that foster parent to concentrate on his/her foster pet. This in return enables us to provide more than just basic care for our pets, it allows us to provide superior care for all our pets.
As we grow we are confident that so will our volunteers. More volunteers and more foster homes means we can take in more pets that need us. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent Please contact us @ saintrescuemom@aol.com
The following will explain the adoption process and guidelines for adoptions.
VA Orphan Rescue guidelines for adopting
*Pet must be part of the family and considered a family member
* Home checks are done prior to placing a pet with their new family
*The family must agree to keep the pet current on vaccines, heartworm prevention, flea prevention(advantage or frontline) all this to be done in accordance with their vets advice
*If it is a cat it must be indoors only. If it is a dog it must also be indoors other than normal exercise and potty time. If you plan on letting your new pet live in your backyard, do not bother to apply.
*The new family must sign and adoption application and an adoption contract
*If you are a renter, you will need a letter from your landlord, on letterhead, stating that it is OK to have a pet. A copy of your lease will also be needed.
*If you own your home you must provide a copy of your deed or other document proving ownership of your home.
* An adoption application is required. All applications must be filled out completely. Any incomplete applications will not be considered.
*Once you are approved you may then meet the pet you are interested in.
I am sure you are saying 'Why should I go through all this trouble for a pet?'
Good question! Adding a new pet to your life should be a well thought out decision. NOT AN IMPULSE PURCHASE! When you adopt a pet, you should be willing to commit to that pet for its entire life. Most of the pets that come into rescue have had a very traumatic start. We place them in homes that we feel will care for them for the rest of their lives. Our screening process has the pets best interest at heart. We want to match you with a pet perfectly. Our adoption process is indepth and can take up to a week to complete. This is an organization staffed completely by volunteers, so please be patient. Remember anything worth having is worth waiting for!
