(hereinafter "SPCA"). The SPCA has been at its present location, 1523 Olde William Street, since 1945. A second building was constructed at the site in 1990 to provide additional space for homeless and unwanted animals. The shelter can presently hold 20 dogs and 32 cats. This space is often extended to hold more animals. The SPCA is a private non-profit charitable institution receiving no county, state or federal funding and having no relationship to any city or county operated animal shelter. Less than 3% of our budget is received from the City of Fredericksburg. We rely solely on individual and corporate donations and fundraising events. Contrary to popular belief, there is no national organization of SPCAs that provides funding or any other type of financial or organizational support. We are an entirely independent and self-supporting institution. Shelter Hours
