Who We Are
The MCB Quantico, VA Animal Shelter serves the community of people and pets in the area of Marine Corps Base, Quantico, and is a NO KILL SHELTER. Stray animals from on the base are brought to the shelter. Animals may be adopted by any individual residing on or off base. The shelter is run with a staff of Military Police with next to no funding, so people are encouraged to make a donation if they adopt an animal. There is no fee for adoption. Please take a look at the animals here and consider opening your heart to one of them. "Semper Fidelis" is the Marine Corps motto. It means "Always Faithful". These animals are waiting for that special someone to be a faithful owner to them!
Adopting a friend
These animals may be adopted by any individual living on or off base. It is required that the animal receives its vaccinations and be registered aboard base - if applicable. Those wishing to adopt an animal from the shelter will be closely supervised during a familiarization period, which will take place outside the dog run. The animal will be leashed at all times and under control of the Base Animal Warden. Any person under the age of 18 will not be permitted to handle pets without parents or guardian present. It is requested that the person who desires to adopt a pet from the shelter donate dog or cat food, cat litter, toys, or cleaning supplies (i.e. bleach) to help support the shelter. An adoption agreement will be completed and filed at the Base Animal Warden's office. The Animal Warden will not save or promise a person an animal held at the shelter. Pets are adopted on a first come first serve basis.
Come Visit Us!
From I95: Exit #148 Head towards back gate of base. As you merge onto road, there is a boat storage area on your right, the road to the shelter is on your right. You'll only see the back of a stop sign. If you come to Route 1 you've gone too far. It's between I95 and Route 1.
From Base: Take the back gate and exit the base. Pass Route 1 and watch on the left for a small road. You'll only see the back of a stop sign. If you come to I95, you've gone too far.
