Will be transported to SHARE's adoption events listed on this website! We usually have kittens and/or cats for adoption throughout the week at our Fin and Feather Petstore site, but please call them in advance to obtain store hours and to inquire what is currently at the store for adoption at 804-262-6681.

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM!
| SHARE has a sponsorship program, preventing elderly pets to live out their lives humanely with medical attention they have not been receiving...and of course a TON of TLC. All three of these sweet dogs were slated to be euthanized at a local shelter if SHARE had not rescued them and are now being treated with medicine and love...and have bounced back to their happy selves. SHARE is in need of either a family willing to house these special needs elderly dogs for the remaining of their lives...and/or simply send SHARE a donation for one or all of SHARE's sponsor dogs in our care.
Starting from left to right are: Festus is a male Chihuahua, who lost all of his hair due to a kidney disease...he loves to sleep under the covers of his new foster parents to compensate for having no hair...even though he is not the prettiest in the bunch, he is super SWEET. In the middle is Gizmo...a darling incredibly sweet black Pomeranian 10yr. old male with a heart condition, who loves to give kisses and loves to watch TV...very content to be with his people. and on the far right...is Katie....a female Chihuahua, who needs surgery to repair a bad knee...she is also doing very well in her foster home and is wonderfully affectionate and will win anyone over with her big brown eyes. Volunteers Needed
SHARE always needs and loves to have volunteers to help in many ways. We need help with adoption stand set up. SHARE always needs families/individuals willing to foster a homeless pet. We welcome volunteers giving their time for special events and fund raisers. Please consider donating your time and talent for animal rescue.
Who We Are
Shelter Adoption and Rescue Efforts, Inc. (SHARE) is an all volunteer, non-profit humane society dedicated to the rehabilitation, care, and adoption of animals rescued from euthanizing animal shelters in the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area. SHARE is a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We promote humane education and encourage responsible pet ownership. Our first priority is to rescue as many unwanted or unclaimed adoptable dogs and pups from Henrico County Animal Shelter as possible. SHARE does have a few cats and kittens in our system as well.
Canines receive medical care (including spayed /neutered) before leaving the shelter and are then placed in foster homes until they are to be adopted into permanent homes. The adoption fee does not cover all the costs of rehabilitation, inoculations, food, toys, bedding, etc. in a foster situation. We are completely dependent upon donations of time, and money to save these dogs. That is why we ask for financial donations! Every penny donated goes directly to the care of these rescued dogs.
SHARE networks with purebred rescue groups from all over the country. Pure breed rescue usually takes the pure breed dogs and places them through their own adoption program. This enables SHARE to use the majority of its foster space for the enormous numbers of mixed breed animals that need to be saved.
