* This fee includes Spay/Neuter procedure, a 1 year Rabies Vaccine and a heart-worm test for dogs.
Spotsylvania County Animal Shelter only adopts to Spotsylvania County Residents if the animal is under 16 weeks of age. If you live in any other county or another state, the animal must be altered before leaving Spotsylvania Animal Shelter.
All adoptions are based on a first-come first-serve baisis on the day the animal is available. You must be at least 18 years of age and provide a current ID. Also, if you have any other pets or children, we suggest that you bring them in to visit before adoption. Most of our animals are strays and we can only guess by observing the behavior of the animal in the kennel/cage and interaction by the shelter staff, whether they are good with other animals or children. We are now offering microchipping as an option with adoptions, making dog adoptions $100 and cats $70.

Donations
We are greatful for any donations of: Blankets, towels, sheets, dog and cat toys, dog and cat treats, play toys designed for puppies/kittens, dog/puppy and cat/kitten food, cat litter, and even small animal supplies(guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, ect.). We also use newspapers and plug-in air fresheners.
