Harvey
Meet Harvey. A while back, Harvey's day-to-day had taken a turn for the worse. He had lost his home, and predatory lending was no doubt to blame. His life's interests had come to revolve around the contents of a business district restaurant's dumpster ... out of the simple need to survive. OK, we all have a little craving now and again, but basing your entire diet around fast food can be bad for your health, and Harvey was showing the signs. He tried to join up with a gang of feral cats but they didn't treat him with any respect. They recognize their own and Harvey had no street cred. So he went his solitary way, wondering just what he'd done wrong. This was no life for a nice friendly cat.
Recently, Harvey's luck changed, and, to make a long story short, he now lives with a CAWS foster parent ...me. Now, when he rubs up against me, winks and cries his little meow, I know what he's saying. I love you and yes, 'supersize me.'
Who We Are
CAWS is a no-kill animal welfare and rescue organization specializing in feral (wild) cat colony management and the adoption of homeless pets. Feral cats are trapped, spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and returned to the colony. This method of colony control is more effective and humane than euthanasia at decreasing cat numbers, nuisance, disease and suffering. Our adoption program pairs abandoned dogs and cats with new loving families. Rescued animals come primarily from municipal animal shelters and live in volunteer foster homes until they are found permanent homes. Since its inception CAWS has saved thousands of animals in need, finding loving homes for hundreds of animals annually.

CAWS is a volunteer-based organization, spending less than 4% on general expenses. CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available.
