Adopt from Animal Rescue League- And Find a Friend For Life

Our mission is to serve stray, abandoned, orphaned, abused and injured companion animals by providing medical care and shelter in times of need, locating lifelong homes, and promoting responsible pet guardianship through education, legislation and sterilization.

As a No-Kill Shelter, every animal that comes to us stays with us until we find it a loving adoptive home. Animal Rescue League of El Paso is proud to be the oldest and largest No Kill shelter in our area providing a second chance to over 14,000 companion animals since 1995. Over 1600 animals were placed into loving homes in 2007

Animal Rescue League of El Paso is a private, volunteer-based, non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status. We receive no government funding and are not a United Way agency. Our life-saving work is supported solely by the loving contributions of individual donors and small foundation grants.

So if you don't see the pet you're looking for, please call or visit our adoption shelter. We have new animals arriving almost daily as space becomes available.

Our Featured Pet

Animal Neglect has a Name and Her Name is Hope.

Hope

Hope is a four to five month old puppy. She was dumped near Horizon City. A couple had seen her for about a week, always coming to the same place as if she was looking and waiting for her family to come back and get her. They tried to get close enough to feed her, but each day she would run away. Then they noticed her laying down and thought she must be dead, but when they went to check, they found she was simply too weak to stand. They had remembered that Animal Rescue League of El Paso had taken another dog from the same area that had been found stuffed into a pile of mattresses. When they called late Friday afternoon and asked if we could help. we told them to please take her to the vet for evaluation and immediate medical assistance. On Monday, we went to pick her up from Eastwood Animal Clinic and she is now being cared for at our shelter. The pictures you are seeing are after she has been on food and medicine for 5 days. As you can see, she is still a skeleton with skin. The pneumonia is now gone, but. there is currently an excess buildup of fluids in her lungs which is being drained. The vets think she has probably ingested a foreign substance in effort to stay alive that has penetrated her chest activity. She has a very sweet personality and loves to be in the companionship of people. Her appetitie has increased and she has gained a few pounds. She cannot tell us what has happened to her, but we hope she knows that she is safe and we will do everything in our power to make her life long and full of love, care and friendship. If you are interested in helping us care for Hope, please visit our site www.arlep.org where you can make a secure online donation. You can also send a check to Animal Rescue League of El Paso, Box 13055, El Paso, TX 79913. Please indicate on your donation that it is for Hope's care. Once she is healthy she will be available for adoption by application only. We can only hope that one day, people will understand that neglect of a any animal is wrong. She has such beautiful eyes but they are so full of sadness. We can't wait until her eyes are bright and she is full of life, running, playing and being loved.

Special Events and News

Kuranda Dog Beds

We've been very blessed to have several people purchase a Kuranda dog bed for the comfort of our rescued animals to sleep on. These beds help get them off the floor and we haven't met a dog yet who doesn't love them. We're trying to get enough beds donated before cold weather comes, so that each dog in our shelter can be warm and cozy and have nothing but sweet dreams as they fall asleep. You may have noticed these beds when you've visited our shelter or seen them in some of the pictures. Kuranda is offering these beds at a discount for purchase to our shelter. To find out more about these beds and the discount offered just click on the link listed above. Our pets will be forever thankful and your gift will help many animals in the years to come.
