News

Adopt a trained dog from our “cell dog” program! Metro Nashville Animal Control Services and DCSO have developed a partnership called HEEL (Helping to educate and Enhance Lives). Offenders are paired with dogs from Metro Animal Control Services for a period of 8 weeks. These specially selected dogs live in the correctional facility with the offenders in their cells. During the 8-week program, the offenders are given instruction in basic obedience training, housebreaking, and socialization. Dogs in our program will be trained and socialized so they are more adoptable, while the offenders learn a marketable skill in dog training. Bradley, Sparky, and Foxy Baby have all found forever homes thanfs to the HEEL program! New pups have enrolled in this program, we will keep you posted!

Who We Are

We provide animal control sevices for Nashville/Davidson County. Our field services include nuisance animals, dogs running at large, vicious animals, bite cases, and cruelty and neglect investigation. We also assist owners in locating their lost pets, as well as helping adopters find lifelong companions.

Adopting a friend

To adopt an animal, you must have a picture ID with your current address (or piece of mail). You must be 18 years of age or older. If you rent, please bring your landlord's phone number so we can verify their pet policy. It is recommended to bring your children to visit the pet before adopting him/her. We allow dog visits, so bring your dog to meet ours before adopting. Our adoption counselors will help you find the right match! Adoption fees are $60 for cats/kittens, which includes spay/neuter, FeLV/FIV test, 1st vaccination, Rabies vaccination, and initial deworming. Adoption fees are $90 for dogs/puppies, which includes spay/neuter, Heartworm test (over 6 months of age), 1st vaccination, Rabies vaccination, and initial deworming. Adoption fees are $15 for small mammals, including rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, etc. We shelter a variety of animals, so if you are looking for anybody in particular, we update this website frequently, or just stop by.
