Pet of the Month

Our pet of the month introduces herself......Marna
Marna is a coming 2 yr old Percheron cross mare. She will make a wonderful riding and driving horse with training.

How Can YOU Help, You ask..

It's summer and the calls are coming in daily for people wanting us to take in horses and dogs. Although we have really started limiting our intake considerably while we take somewhat of a break we are still very active in all phases of rescue. Just because we say we aren't taking animals doesn't mean people actually believe us and repeatedly try to get us to take their pets. We take in the very occasional few but really are not able at this time to take dogs/cats. We can sometimes take farm animals, horses and small animals. We are still in need of donations. We specifically need money at this time to help pay for Sassy's multiple surgeries and long term care. Plesae email us for a complete story on her disease. We can accept money through Paypal or donations can be made directly to the University of Tennessee .. Sassy fund.. please email me for address and information. We always accept monetary donations through Paypal with the ID piedane@charter.net or use can simply click on this button
or if you would like to mail a check please email me for an address. We also are always in need of hay, grain, any horse supplies especially glucosamine type supplements for our older guys who are arthritic. It costs us an average of $200 a month per horse for farrier, vet, feed, hay, medications and supplements. Any help with these expenses sometimes means the difference between life and death. If we can't afford to rescue others then many will not get the chance the lucky few do that come into the program. Once into the program the horse/donkey will remain safely with us until time of adoption.

Who We Are

CPR&R / HORSE is a small group that works with a limited number of dogs/cats/horses/ponies/donkeys at one time. We like to be able to spend a lot of individual time with our rescues to find out their personalities and habits. We try to place our rescues in the right home for that particular animal and are very picky about who gets our rescues. These rescues have been without a home for one reason or another and we want to insure that they find a forever home this time around. We do allow out of state adoptions but adopters are required to come to our location to meet and pick up the rescue. Weather permitting.. we do allow shipping through Delta Dash for our smaller rescues although all shipping costs would be the responsibility of the adopter.

We also occasionally have other types of animals including cats, horses, birds, exotics, and farm yard friends. If you need help placing another type of animal please let us know and we will try and help or point you in the right direction.

Adopting a friend

All of our horses are examined by a veterinarian; updated on vaccinations (4-way, West Niles and Rabies); seen by the farrier and updated on coggins. Adoption fees range from $350 and up depending on the horse. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian; spayed/neutered; vaccinated w/DHLPP, Corona, Bordtella and rabies; dewormed; heartworm tested; Frontline (flea preventative); started on heartworm preventative; and microchipped. Some dogs are also tattooed. Adoption fees range from $200 and up depending on the individual dog. There is an adoption application, home visit and contract required.
