HCF is currently in need of bath size towels and blankets/dog beds. Used bath towels and blankets are great!! ( no electric blankets please). Email us for info on drop points or for help to organize a blanket and towel collection drive in your neighborhood. Our Pet of the Month is MAC!! Mac is a very special dog that came to HCF via a plea from a email dispersed to rescue organizations. Mac showed up injured in a yard of a citizen that could not afford to treat his injuries. If he was turned into a regular shelter he would have been likely euthanized because of his injuries. This is where HCF steps in. We specialize in animals in severe needs. Mac passed our screening for adoptibility - he is great with other dogs, cats, and kids having a wonderful personality even though he was injured he was friendly offering lots of face licks and tail wagging. We cannot see the reason to euthanize such a great dog simply because he has a injury that certainly can be repaired. Mac was transported by our friends at Sunliner Automotive over 150 miles to get him to our vets clinic. (Thank you Sunliner!!) Mac sat in the front seat and offered face licks and wags the entire ride for our transporter. Once at the vet x-rays were taken. (see photos) Mac has had this injury for at least 10 days or more. Mac then underwent extensive surgery to repair the break (see photos) at our superb veterinarian clinic with their very talented and compassionate staff. Mac is now at HCF recovering and waiting for his new forever family. He is a Boxador..... which is a new designer breed. Mac will be neutered when the pin is removed from his leg. He has had his vaccinations and is heartworm negative!! He is only about 10 months old. This is a superb dog..... Excellent personality!! Sweet affectionate well mannered and will be starting basic obedience once he is physically able to do so. Apply now to adopt Mac! He is a GREAT AMERICAN BROWN DOG!!
