Cece has made it to the cat room!! A very nice lady offered to pay for Cece to be spayed. She also had her hernia repaired. She has been at the shelter longer than any other animal. She arrived June 13, 2007. She's sick of being at the shelter! Can you give her a good home?
Current Events
Want to help make our dream of a new shelter a reality? Order your personally engraved brick to be put in the walkway of our new building. Each brick costs $100 and you can get yours today by going to www.florencehumanesociety.org or contacting the shelter at (843) 669-2921.
The Bone-E-Fit was a great success!! We raised $126,910 for our new building!! Plans are already in the works for next year's Bone-E-Fit. It will be held on May 7, 2009.
Contact the shelter directly to ask about adoption fee specials. Periodically we offer discounted rates to help increase adoptions during overpopulation. We also hold off-site pet adoptions around Florence and surrounding counties. Here are some upcoming dates for Pet Adoptions:
June 17th, Homer's Birthday at the Redwolves game
June 21st, Magnolia Mall, Belk Court, 12-4 pm
Who We Are
Florence Area Humane Society (FAHS) is a non-profit organization serving the Florence, SC area devoted to prevention of cruelty and public education about pet overpopulation. We have an ample selection of dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens. All animals are up to date with their shots and worming. (Excluding rabies vaccinations) When age appropriate, all animals are heartworm tested.

Adopting a friend
Adoption fees are as follows:
- Dogs - $40
- Puppies - $40
- Cats - $30
- Kittens - $30
- Spayed/Neutered Cats or Dogs - $50
Your adoption includes a companion that is up to date on shots, a $25 coupon for spay/neuter of your companion, and a starter kit with coupons and samples.
Come Visit Us!
We are located on Stockade Drive. Travelling south on Irby St., turn LEFT on National Cemetery Road, cross over the railroad tracks and continue straight. You will cross over Church Street and approach 2 cemeteries, one on the left and one on the right. Immediately after the last cemetery on the right you will see our sign on the right. Turn right onto Stockade Drive. Follow the road through the gates and the Humane Society is on the right.
