HOW YOU CAN HELP!!

Colleton County Animal Care and Control relies on support from the community
to provide the additional public service and animal care vital to
a healthy community.


ADOPT
ADOPT a pet; ENCOURAGE others to adopt a pet; TELL OTHERS about the need for immunization
and how to Reduce uncontrolled animal breeding by having their pet SPAYED or NEUTERED


DONATE
Donate dog and cat food, (canned or dry) cat litter, cat deodorizer, round stainless bowls, flea shampoo,
bleach, laundry detergent; sponges, blankets, towels, newspaper, shredded paper, animal crates and
empty spray bottles (no chemicals please); Donate money for pet medicine and supplies.
ALL DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED BY THE STAFF
AND MOST OF ALL BY THE ANIMALS YOUR

VOLUNTEER
Volunteer for one or more of the Wonderful Opportunities Below.

CAT ROOM CLEANING: This is one of the best ways to help the staff. Every morning the cages and rooms
are cleaned and the cats are fed. Volunteers are always needed here to help finish the tasks at hand before the
Shelter opens to the public. People in this position should be ready to roll up their shirt sleeves and
get busy. Think about how much the cats appreciate being clean, fresh and fed!

DOG KENNEL CLEANING: This is another one of the best ways to help the staff. The same is done every
day for each of the dogs here at the Shelter. These special people must be able to lift, clean, and be
comfortable with dogs of all sizes. Our dogs love to be clean!

GROOMING CATS: Make our cats look and feel their best by helping out with their bathing.
Our cats love to look clean and shiny. This is a very helpful job for the staff here at the shelter.

BATHING AND GROOMING DOGS: Make our dogs look and feel their best by helping out with their bathing.
Our dogs love to look clean and shiny. This position would require you to be able to lift. This is a very
helpful job for the staff here at the Pet Helpers.

CAT SOCIALIZER: Loving people needed for some much needed play time and attention to the cats to help keep
them used to being held and loved. There are also needs for grooming the cats to help keep them looking adorable.

DOG SOCIALIZER: Patient people willing to take the time to walk and play with shelter dogs individually. This
socializing helps to keep them used to being held and loved. This is a very rewarding experience for
both the dogs and the volunteers!

SHELTER CAGE/KENNEL MONITER: Checks to insure the proper updated paperwork is on each cage/kennel.

OFFICE HELP: There are many tasks available for volunteers to help with, from general, clerical work, answering
phones, helping with adoption paperwork, and in-take of animals to special projects. People in this position
need to be able to work independently and be self-motivated and have great customer service skills.

GENERAL SHELTER MAINTENANCE: This position is everything from sweeping the floors to washing animal,
dishes, and everything in between. It could include sorting and stacking newspapers, small repairs,
washing windows, etc. his position is a perfect match for that Mr. or Mrs. Fix It person good at
everything around the house. We appreciate and respect the abilities of people
like this and could certainly use your assistance here at the Shelter.

GENERAL SHELTER LANDSCAPING AND OUTSIDE MAINTENANCE: This position could include mowing
grass, weed eating, debris pick up, building shelves, small repairs, washing outside windows, etc.
This position is a perfect match for that Mr. or Mrs. Fix It person good at everything around
the house. We appreciate and respect the abilities of people like this and could
certainly use your assistance here at the Shelter.

LAUNDRY CLEANERS: This is a very important position. Our animals need fresh bedding, blankets, etc. and we
count on these dedicated and thoughtful people who help us.

RESTOCKER: We have several separate buildings housing our pets which need to stay stocked with food,
water, cat litter, cat liner pans, trash bags, newspaper, food/water bowls, paper towels and
cleaning supplies. This position would require you to be able to lift.

WEB PAGE PICTURE PERSON: We need a person to take pictures of our adoptable pets, and upload them to
Petfinder.com. This position is very important in finding our pets new homes.

WEB PAGE DESIGNER: We need a creative, knowledgeable person to provide web assistance, and maintain a
professional attractive look.

WHO WE ARE

Colleton County Animal Environmental Control is responsible for the care and control of homeless animals that become
temporary residents of our shelter. Animal Care Officers respond to citizens' requests and
complaints and will investigate questionable circumstances for animals in
Colleton County, including reports of strays, abandonment or abuse.
