Miss Sasha is a 9 year old senior lady who was turned into our shelter in horrific shape. Out of shape and un-kept that is. She has such a sad story. Sasha has so much love to give anyone. Why would anyone treat a pet in this way?
What a shame. Sasha is about 30 lbs overweight, had a tons of fleas, & nails that were so long they were turned into her paw pads. She is currently under the direct care of a specialist vet and is being treated for her obesity. She is doing well on the vet’s "Jenny Craig's " weight loss program and is finally getting the care she needs by our staff and volunteers.
Sasha is a shelter favorite indeed!
She loves attention and is such a caring devoted soul.
Princess Sasha is a beautiful LARGE and out of shape gal with a strong desire to please and a capacity for giving love and learning. Sasha is an extremely friendly dog who enjoys the company of kids. (Dog friendly kids that is)
She is outstanding with her trust and gentle nature always happy to be around people.
We have found Sasha Friendly with everyone, including other dogs.
To best describe Sasha: She is a lovable, well-mannered, intelligent dog with charm. A friend who is Loyal, sweet and eager to please. Sasha isn’t a dog that can do a lot of exercise just yet. Slowly we are getting her back into shape. She is a house dog that is looking for the type of family who will love her for her charm. Beauty is only skin deep.
Sasha deserves a family who will finally love her and take care of her in her senior years. She is beautiful in many people’s eyes. People need to see past her weight issues and love her for the perfect temperament gal that she is.
If you are looking for a calm well mannered gal, Sasha is for you.
Please contact Sasha’s personal weight loss trainer at 401-823-8851 or e-mail her at MyPetTherapyDogs@yahoo.com
Please hurry, we are a very small shelter that fills up fast.
Greetings! My name is Callie. I have quite a story to tell. I was born in the southern parts of the good Ol USA. My family didn't take care of me and I found myself homeless and in a high kill (by gas chamber) shelter. Then, I was taken on a very long ride to New England from a rescue group, once I got here, Déjà vu again, I found myself wandering and homeless. I was fortunate enough this time to have some nice people take me to safety. But once I got to the vets, more bad news, I was told I have heartworm! Lucky for me, I can be treated. I am a great gal that so needs a break in life. I I dream about a family to call my own. I know some day I will have the chance I so much deserve. Even after all I have been through, I still have my dignity and my pride! So many people have turned their backs on me. I really don't have any reason to trust people, but I do. I love attention and am a very happy gal! I have been temperament tested and passed with flying colors. Once I am feeling better, my dog trainers and friends Sue and Harry are going to make me an AKC Canine Good CItizen. For now, I just need to find a home and get well. I am an american staffordshire terrier/hound mix and I am about 3-4 years old. I love to go for hikes in the woods. Hiking is a lot of fun. The best home life for me would be living with a low key, quiet family who has no other pets where I can rest my weary bones and begin getting healthy again. Currently, I am best friends with the animal control officers son Anthony. My friend Anthony is 13 years old and we love to play together. will be fine and able to live a long happy life.
UPDATE : Callie was admitted to the vet hospital on 8/9/08 due to severe complications of pneumonia and heartworm. She had Parasitic Pneumonia.
She was very sick and we were not sure if she was going to make it. This southern gal was extremily ill.
Without treatment she had no chance of recovery. Her foster mom Sue decided to go with treating her and give her a chance.
Callie received her first heartworm injection on 8/11/08. She remained in the hospital for three more days.
She went to the vets for a check up 8/19/08 and good news! Her pneumonia is resolving.
Her spirits are up and many people are keeping her in their thoughts and prayers. Callie thanks all her well wishers!!
The doctor thinks she will eventually be fine!
If you would like to help Callie medically, Checks can be made out to: The Little Rhodie Bully Breed Club Subject line: Callie's medical treatment Send to: The West Warwick Animal Shelter 106 Hay Street, West Warwick RI Any and all help shall be greatly appreciated to help defer the cost of her high medical bills and continued medical treatment. . If you would like to adopt Callie, please contact her personal trainer Sue Parker owner of Dynamic Dog Training Services LLC at MyPetTherapyDogs@yahoo.com or call her at 401-823-8851. Please help Callie, She really deserves a chance at forever happiness. This lovely lady will melt your heart away!
Love Callie!
Do you want to adopt or have a dog your home owners insurance policy will not allow you to have. Homeowners with breed exceptions on their insurance policy can get this policy and still own the breed of their choice because it insures the dog not the home.
