Who We Are
The Pennsylvania Ferret Club and Shelter (PFCS) is both a ferret club and a full-service ferret rescue and shelter organization. The ferret club consists of dozens of members who all work together for the primary purpose of supporting the club's shelter branches. Equally important, the club also focuses on educating the public, current ferret owners, and others who come in contact with ferrets about the care and needs of the domestic ferret. The overall goal of the PFCS is to improve the quality of life for pet ferrets everywhere.

Our Club members volunteer their time in a variety of ways to help us achieve our goals. Primarily, our club members assist in providing shelter to surrendered ferrets, hold many fundraisers and events to raise money to care for the ferrets in our shelter, and host and participate in educational days to teach the public about domestic ferrets.

The shelter of the PFCS is comprised of a network of full-service shelter branche and halfway homes that are run by club members. Our main shelter is located in Enola, Pennsylvania. We provide adoption and rescue services to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and parts of Delaware and Maryland.

Forget-Me-Not Ferret Rescue is run by Shelter Director Tracy Snedeker out of her home in Enola, Pennsylvania - a stone's throw from Harrisburg. Tracy has been one of the most dedicated and active members and fosterers of the PFCS since she joined in August, 2000. In October, 2004 Tracy took the leap and opened a much-needed second shelter branch for the PFCS. Her experience both as a foster home and her many, many hours volunteering for our shelters made her the perfect candidate for sheltering herself. Tracy's only problem: when shelter ferrets come to her, they never want to leave! :) Tracy's personal website is coming soon, check back!

The PFCS is a very active organization that hosts and participates in many events throughout the year. We hold numerous fundraising events, ferret awareness days, and participate in pet fairs and expos hosted by other organizations to educate the public about ferrets.

Adopting a Ferret Friend

Ferrets are accepted into the shelter as space permits, where they are brought current on rabies and distemper vaccinations and provided any medical care needed, if any. All ferrets are tested for Aleutians Disease Virus (ADV) prior to admission to the shelter.
Ferrets are provided only the best in care while they await placement in loving, permanent homes. The PFCS screens all adopters thoroughly prior to placing any ferret in a new home and provides ongoing education to prospective or current ferret owners.
