Who We Are
We are a private organization, we foster dogs out of our homes, not kennels. We opperate by appointment only, due to the fact that we do not just let anyone come by and pick a dog out, we do thorough home checks and home visits, vet checks, to make sure you are a good family for one of our dogs. I know a lot of people think we get carried away with our standards, but the animal(s) that we have, may already have been in a bad situation and we want to make sure that they aren't going to get into another bad situation again. Most of our rescue dogs are so sweet and loving, why would we want to have them be hurt or neglected ? So, if you are not ready to have a lot of questions asked or have us pry a little into your lifestyle, it may be better for another rescue to serve you. But thanks for looking..
Hello, my name is Amy Hochberg-Paules, I have been doing Great Dane Rescue for more than 24 years. I try my best to help the animal to , rehabilitate it, heal wounds, put weight on and the most important give them a safe and secure and loving home until a permanent home is found. I am a not for profit rescue, I am not funded by anyone, I rely on donations and adoption fees to keep going there are a few kind people out there who (foster) and help with bills and supplying love and the use of their homes. We do it because we love animals.. I follow the same guidelines that most shelters follow, even though we do not have a kennel in our homes. Recycled Danes primarily helps Great Danes but I have had in various breeds and have helped with birds, rodents and reptiles as well.
Adopting a friend
Commitment is my first and foremost goal with any adoption. I am ONLY looking for people that can commit to the animals I have for adoption for their lifetime, not for a week or a month. Many animals that come into rescue have some sort of baggage and require loving people to learn to understand them and have patience. The first thing we do is a questionairre that may be filled out on the phone or may be mailed to you to fill out at some other time. The questionairre helps me to place an animal with people that have the same sort of wants and needs that the animal has. References are needed and will be checked as well as home checks. After that is completed you may come and visit the animal that you are interested in and if we make a love connection then you may adopt the animal. Adoption fees vary on each individual animal. Please read thoroughly the description of each animal.....

Please do not just drop by, some of the animal(s) are fostered at other homes and are not here. ** Also we may not have the time to speak with you if you do just drop by, most of us have jobs, families and other responsibilities besides being foster parents to 4 legged babies, so please email or call 1st.
