Adopting a friend

We would like to thank you for your interest in adopting a pointer. It is our goal to do everything possible to assist you in selecting a dog that is right for you. There are certain steps that will be taken in order to adopt a dog through rescue. The first step is to complete an adoption application. (this can be obtained by contacting us and we will either send it to you by email or fax) The next step will be a home check. The home check will be done by a representative of the rescue coming into your home to check for things like adequate fencing, where the dog will sleep, excercise ect. They will also look at how much interaction the dog will have with it's new family, and overall dog friendlyness. (adequate fencing is atleast a 6ft chainlink or solid wood fencing) Invisable fencing is not considered adequate because it does not stop animal or human predetors from coming in to harm the dog. We do not typically adopt to familys with children under 5 yrs of age. Pointers are very high energy dogs and can accidentally run and knock over small children in there excitement to run and play. If your family includes children under 5 then we will do our best to find a pointer that will be a good match for young children. We do not discourage hunters from adopting but there are certain conditions that apply to those who wish to hunt there dogs. *They must be an indoor companion and not a kennel dog* We will also check the refrences provided by you on the application. (i.e, vet, lanlord, personal ect) After the home visit and approval you can select your new dog! we will do a follow up phone call and or home visit to make sure everything is going well for you and you new companion. Our adoption fee is generaly 175.00-200.00 which is used to cover the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinations, paying for shelter fees, and any other medical treatments the animal may need. Transportation is the responsibility of the adopter. Before the dog is released we will have a signed contact that states that if for any reason at any time you cannot keep the pointer you adopted from us it will be returned to us at the owners exspense and will go through the adoption process and rehomed. Under no circumstances can the dog be release to a shelter or placed in any other home, even a family member. We look forward to helping you find your new companion and are happy to answer any questions you may have. We thank you for choosing to open you home and heart to a needy pointer. We know your choice to adopt will be repayed many times over by your new companion.
