Kim: I forgot to bring my pics to upload, but our dobie pup made it home to TN just fine. I named him Kolten- a German name for black; coal town- he looks like he's been playing in coal with his dark face and chin..and dark tips on his paws. He is adorable and such a sweetie. I was a bit nervous about adopting long distance, only being able to see photos of the dog, but he is everything you said he was! I am thrilled with my new doberman. Thank you.

baby in, though it may not be their breed. Rescuers whose talents and determination give us tools to help us. Rescuers we call on for help in a thousand ways, who answer us, who hear our pleas. Rescuers who are our family, our strength, our comrades in battle. I know I cannot save every Pyr in need. I know my efforts are a mere drop in a sea. I know that if I take on just one more---those I have will suffer. I want to quit! But I won't. When I feel overwhelmed, I'll stroke my Magnus's head while reading my fellow Rescuers emails. I'll cry with them, I'll laugh with them---and they will help me find the strength to go on. I want to quit! But not today. There's another email, another dog needing Rescue. This piece is dedicated, with love and gratitude, to all my fellow Rescuers. Joan
Spay and Neuter IS the most important part of RESCUE, if someone is offering you an intact pet they are NOT rescue! [Main Page] [What] [Why] [How] [Excuses] [I Care] [FAQs] [Where - Low Cost Options] [Announce It] Web Site Graphics: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [Pet Shop] [More Info] Did you know? Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them. What can you do to stop the suffering? Spay and neuter your pet! In addition to saving lives, spaying and neutering can also drastically improve your pet's health and life expectancy. The idea that pets become fat or lazy when they are spayed or neutered is a myth. Sterilized pets lead healthier, longer lives. Spaying a female eliminates the possibility of uterine and ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the risk of breast cancer. Neutering a male reduces the risk of both prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. Neutering also will make your pet more affectionate and less likely to roam, get in fights, or become lost. Good for You, Your Pet, and the Community Prevent A Litter - It's Good for You * Spayed and neutered pets are better, more affectionate, companions. * Neutered cats are less likely to spray and mark territory. * Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates its heat cycle, which can last twenty-one days, twice a year, in dogs, and anywhere from three to fifteen days, three or more times a year, in cats. Females in heat often cry incessantly, show nervous behavior, and attract unwanted male animals. * Spayed and neutered pets are less likely to bite. Unaltered animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems than those that have been spayed or neutered. Prevent a Litter - It's Good for Your Pet * Spayed and neutered dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. * Spaying female dogs and cats eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer. * Neutering male dogs and cats reduces the incidence of prostate cancer. * Neutered animals are less likely to roam and fight. Prevent A Litter - It's Good for the Community * Communities spend millions of dollars to control and eliminate unwanted animals. Irresponsible breeding contributes to the problem of dog bites and attacks. Animal shelters are overburdened with surplus animals. [
This clip is not easy to watch, but reality and something rescuers have to deal with on a daily basis, everyone should see it then send it to all their contacts Linking To This Movie http://brightlion.com/InHope/InHope_en.aspx.
ALL DOGS SHOWN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY AFTER YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN APPROVED YOU CAN FIND THE APPLICATION AT WWW.OKSAVEADOG.ORG Cannot find my phone number??? There is a very good reason for this. Every day I have requests for my phone number, there are several reasons I do not post my number.
1. I do this alone, I do not have the man power to answer the phone
2. My husband drives a truck, when he is home he is sleeping so the phone ringing non stop is simply not an option. I am outside so all you are doing is waking him up!
3. My husband is a Saint to put up with fences, dogs, barking, me running here and there to pick up yet more dogs, I feel he deserves a few peaceful hours when he is home.
4. I do rescue from home, this is not a business but my home, I do not get paid, I do not get grants or aide in any way. I hope and pray for adoption fees or donations to keep everyone fed and healthy. I do this solely for the love of the canine. I only show dogs after your application has been approved and an appointment set. This is my home. I do not have time to answer the phone all day and night. PLEASE E mail!
I cannot think of one question I cannot answer via e mail quietly in my office that I cannot answer on the phone, so ask me anything you want to and once your application has been approved I will set you an appointment to see the dogs. Thanks for understanding.
I am a firm believer that waiting until a dog is 6 months old to spay it is the number one reason for pt overpopulation problem. Dogs in Europe are spayed and neutered at 6 weeks and there is no overpopulation problem, hopefully American vets will realize it really is better on the dogs to spay/neuter early.
There are many veterinary articles to support this, here are a few reasons. EARLY AGE SPAY/NEUTER-PERFECT FOR EVERY PRACTICE by W.Marvin Mackie, DVM n the pre-pubescent, the discoveries you will find in surgery, without exception, are: 1. Less bleeding 2. Excellent visualization 3. Elastic tissue for easy ligature placement 4. Everything in miniature and prepubescent; therefore, less stitching and less time is required. 5. Fewer drugs are required. 6. Quicker recoveries with less patient discomfort 7. Near zero complications 8. Less healing time 9. Delighted clients > >
Consider the abused and neglected, they really make the best pets, consider the not so perfect, give a dog that needs a home a home, the tiny cute fluffy dogs will find a home everyone wants them. So how about taking the one no one wants because he/she may not be the prettiest dog, the smallest or the most appealing. These are the ones that desperately need a home! and in many cases will make the very best dog, and remember when looking for your next dog!
"The uglier the dog the better the personality"
Just as with humans they cannot rely on their looks so have to develop character!
I LOOKED AT ALL THE CAGED ANIMALS IN THE SHELTER....... THE CAST OFFS OF HUMAN SOCIETY.
THE LOVE, HOPE, FEAR, DREAD, SADNESS AND BETRAYAL IN THEIR EYES. I WAS ANGRY, FRUSTRATED, SAD, TEARS FILLING MY EYES.
"GOD" I SAID "THIS IS TERRIBLE! WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING?'
GOD WAS SILENT FOR A MOMENT, THEN SAID "I HAVE DONE SOMETHING,' ,
" I CREATED YOU!"

People ask me every day how, why I do this 365 days a yr. below is the best reason I have ever found.
The Reason
To you, from all your rescue dogs...
I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would have left this life believing that all humans don't care
Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted,
skin that isn't flea bitten, good food and enough of it, beds to sleep on,
someone to love me, to show me I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
You saved me from the terror of the pound,
Soothing away the memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair
Why you do it
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room...to save one more like me.
I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying.
I am the reason
The dogs before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given
We would die if not for you.

Adopting a friend
Please adopt dogs that have been rejected by previous owners, for all kinds of stupid reasons, it rarely has anything to do with the dog!! Most common given reasons; MOVING :(what dog cannot fit into car?) New home does not accept pets!!! Why would you rent a place where you could not take your family member??? DIVORCE :(I have had one NEVER even thought about giving up child or dog) SPOUSE: (I got rid of the spouse and kept the dog!) I HAVE TOO MANY!! I have 30-40 and make it work, I do not need your 3rd dog. CANNOT AFFORD IT! Are you also taking your children to the pound? One dog lives very cheaply. instead of buying a puppy and encouraging overpopulation. Rescue and Give one another chance at a happy life. They were given up through no fault of their own. We are looking for forever homes for these dogs. They have already been shuffled around enough, and we need people that are willing to dedicate a couple of weeks to allowing these dogs to settle into their new homes. I have NEVER had a dog returned that was given the time to settle in.
We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us,
