Who We Are
Hounds of the Heartland is a Chapter of Greyhound Pets of America, otherwise known as GPA Central Oklahoma . We have been in operation since March 2000. We started off with a very small group of volunteers that made a commitment to strive toward making greyhound adoption an option. It's a small part to play against a big problem but every adoption that happens in one less dog that is put down because their racing career is over.
We currently have placed over 300 greyhounds into pet homes in the Oklahoma City area and we continue to educate and heighten the awareness in the community about how wonderful this breed is and what great pets they make.
Our local group is active in the community by adoption outreaches, Petsmart and Border's Show & Tell events and walking in parades. We also have a group email list that you can join at greyhoundOKC group at yahoogroups.com. which includes a calendar to find out what local events we are scheduled to be involved with.

Greyhound Pets of Central Oklahoma is an incorporated, 501-3c not for profit group under the National direction of Greyhound Pets of America. The following is a list of our officers and we abide by the National procedures and by-laws of Greyhound Pets of America.
