Our Featured Pet...MEET CZAR! MEET CZAR He desperately needs a home please read his story below: Here is a very lonesome husky, just looking for a caring family. He's around 6 yrs. old, fixed and housebroken. His family filed bankruptcy and the apartment they had to move to won't let them take him. He's very friendly and would be good with older children. He seems to be able to get along with other dogs, but we haven't let him by them for any length of time. He's all white with the most beautiful gold eyes that make your heart melt. He is learning how to walk on a leash, but he was tied outside for most of his life, so it's taking time. He likes to cool off in a baby pool! Czar (zar) has short white hair that is not very thick and he enjoys having it combed/brushed. IF YOU THINK YOU MAY LIKE TO MEET CZAR OR POSSIBLY MAKE HIM A FOREVER PART OF YOUR HOME AND HEART., PLEASE EMAIL WOLFHOWL@BEX.NET FOR AN ADOPTION APPLICATION.

Our News

A special thank you to all who adopt a rescued furbaby and remember this, "you actually saved two lives, the one you adopted and the space you made available for us to save another one!" If any of you would like to help us help the furbaby's, you can save your weight circles from the PURINA DOG FOOD and send them to us, with these weight circles, we can redeem coupons for money off on dog food or for coupons towards our veterinarian bills which sure does help when we get a furbaby in that has special needs that we cannot afford out of our own pocket expenses. A HUGE THANK YOU GOES OUT TO EVERYONE WHO HAS MADE A MONETARY DONATION TOWARDS LAKE ERIE GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE. THE MONEY EITHER GOES FOR DOG FOOD OR VETERINARY BILLS FOR THESE RESCUED FURBABIES

Who We Are

Lake Erie German Shepherd Rescue is a homebased operation. I have no formal shelter and all pets are fostered in my home. Some are shelter rescues, owner surrenders or animals currently living with their owners that require a new home. We are a not for profit organization. We are dedicated to the rehoming of neglected, abused and homeless pets whom have lost their homes through no fault of their own. We make every attempt to place a pet with the ideal home. Pets are evaluated and receive full vet care before being adopted. We are striving for the education of people about the plight of domestic pets and hoping that one day people will see that having their pets spayed or neutered is essential to preventing the overpopulation crisis out there.

Adopting a friend

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT A PARTICULAR FURBABY, EMAIL ME AND I WILL EMAIL YOU BACK AS SOON AS I GET HOME FROM WORK WHICH IS USUALLY AFTER 5 P.M.

All potential adopters are required to fill out an adoption application and sign an adoption contract. Where applicable, a home visit may be required. Adoption fees may vary depending on the costs rescue has incurred with a particular pet. This fee will include UTD shots , rabies, HW test and spay/neuter.

The adoption fee of each pet is listed in their bio on the pet list. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Animals are not placed on a "first come, first served" basis. Each application is evaluated before placing a pet to ensure that the animal goes to the best possible home for him/her. Please note* If you do not include full vet references, ie. name, phone number, address, your application will not be processed. A vet reference is required.

Please take into consideration the expenses involved when questioning the adoption fee for our pets. Here is a general breakdown of the expenses WE pay for vetting the dogs in rescue. Pull fee-Fee paid to get dog from shelter-$25-$40. average. Vet office call $30.00 Spay/Neuter Surgery-$100. and up, depending on the size of the dog DLHPP vaccine-$20.Rabies vaccine-$15. Heartworm check-$29. Heartguard for one month-$10 Frontline Plus for one month-$15 Grooming (If required)-$25-$35 This does not include gas for transporting the dog, food, shampoo, toys, collars, leashes, long distance telephone calls made, and miscellaneous items such as cleaning products, crates, etc.

Some dogs even require formal training or obedience before they can be adopted or have other health issues that we treat before being placed for adoption such as heartworm disease, mange, or ACL surgeries which easily run into the hundreds of dollars. Please keep all of these expenses in mind before questioning our adoption fees.

Come Visit Us!

We are located in Northern Ohio right by Lake Erie and presently do not have a shelter. Animals are fostered in my home so I do not have a facility that can be visited. However, I am more than happy to arrange a meeting where you can meet the animal you are interested in prior to adoption.
