Hi, my name is Happy. One of these pictures shows what I looked like when I was found as a stray at the dog shelter. I'm a 10+ year old black Cockapoo, and I weigh 34.2 pounds.

I was saved by the people at Happy Tails, and their Master Groomer, Paula, groomed me.

The RASCAL Unit vet, Dr. Gonzalez discovered that I have already been spayed, but she did extensive dental work on me and tested my eyes. I was also tested and was found negative for heartworm disease.

Now I'm ready to be adopted. I would love to go to a home of a nice quiet elderly person who wants a sweet quiet dog who is HAPPY to be treated well and be taken care of for the rest of my life.

Featured Foster : Susan + Brij Parekh

There are two featured foster parents, Susan and Brij Parekh. Susan and Brij live in a nice home in Hilliard with his mother, two exotic birds and their own dogs. They have found it in their heart and in their home to foster dogs and puppies for Happy Tails. Thanks Susan and Brij for helping to save the lives of these pups!

EXPLANATION OF FEES
What do my Fees Cover?
The fee to adopt a dog from Happy Tails of Central Ohio (HAPPY TAILS) is $215 for dogs unless specified otherwise. Some adoption fees may be in excess of $215 due to added expenses incurred in rescuing the dog. If the fee exceeds $215, it will be stated in the dog’s description on Petfinder or in the flier about that specific dog. On average, a dog rescued by HAPPY TAILS receives over $300 in veterinary care from veterinarians in Central Ohio. Depending upon the age of the dog at the time of adoption, a HAPPY TAILS pet will have already received the following veterinary care:
Dogs & Puppies

• Distemper/Parvo/etc. Vaccine (and boosters for puppies)
• Bordetella Vaccine
• Rabies Vaccine
• Spay or Neuter
• Worming
• Heartworm test for dogs older than 6 months (just prior to adoption)
• Frontline Treatment (fleas)
• Microchip

The adoption fee is due at the time of placement. Payments may be spread out over a 3-month period of time but only if post dated checks are submitted at the time of adoption.

HOW THE ADOPTION PROCESS WORKS
Here is the adoption process for Columbus, Ohio, area adopters:
• First you complete an application to adopt.
• Second you come to see the dog and decide whether or not you want to try him or her out. If you do, you take the dog home for a 3-day trial.
• During this trial period, we check your references.
• Then we call you after the 3-day trial to see if the dog has worked out and you are ready to complete the adoption.
• If the dog works out and you want to complete the adoption, we schedule a home visit, bring the contract and finalize the adoption.
• IF THE DOG DOES NOT WORK OUT, YOU JUST RETURN HIM OR HER.

UNFORTUNATELY, OUR RESCUE CANNOT TRANSPORT. IF YOU LIVE OUT OF TOWN, YOU MUST COME TO GET THE DOG YOURSELF OR MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRANSPORT.

Here is our adoption policy for out-of-town adopters:
• First, you complete an application to adopt.
• Second we check your references.
• Third, you come to see the dog and decide whether or not you want to try him or her out.
• Fourth, you sign a post dated adoption contract dated 7 days after the date you meet the dog and pay the adoption fee with a check with the same post-date.
• Fifth, you take the dog home with you.
• During that 7-day period, we arrange for a rescue group in your area to do a home visit.
• If the dog works out, we just process the check and contract at the end of the 7 days.
• IF THE DOG DOES NOT WORK OUT, YOU JUST RETURN HIM OR HER WITHIN THE 7 DAYS.
