The League has operated a no-kill shelter since 1964 and is dedicated to bettering the lives of companion animals in the Greater Cincinnati area by providing shelter, adoption, public education and spay/neuter assistance programs.
The League receives no government support. All programs are financed solely by membership dues, bequests, contributions, and fundraisers. Except for a small paid shelter staff, all efforts are carried out by volunteers.
Adoptions must be completed at our shelter in Batavia, Ohio. We do allow out of state adoptions but the first step in the process, whether you are out of state or local, is coming to the shelter to meet the pet. We do not ship pets or provide transport.
It takes approximately 60 - 90 minutes to complete a dog adoption. Please plan your visit accordingly. Dog adoptions are $95 and puppy adoptions (16 weeks and under) are $125. All of our dogs have been vet-checked, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. Any dog 10 weeks of age or older has been spayed or neutered and this cost is included in the adoption fee. If you adopt a younger puppy, there is an additional $40 deposit which is refunded upon proof of spay/neuter.
It takes approximately 30 - 45 minutes to complete a cat adoption. Please plan your visit accordingly. Cat adoptions are $80 and kitten adoptions (16 weeks and under) are $95. All cats are tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS and are vet-checked and vaccinated. We spay or neuter all cats at 10 weeks of age. If you select a younger kitten, there is an additional $40 deposit payable at time of adoption, which is refunded upon proof of spay/neuter.
Please call (513) 735-2299 for more information on our available pets or stop by to meet them in person. We have kittens, puppies and adult cats and dogs too! More of our pets can be seen on our website.
