Who We Are
WELCOME! POUND RESCUE OF ATHENS, OHIO is a non-profit organization dedicated to
saving dogs from harm and starvation and finding them suitable homes. We do not have a shelter at this time -- to visit us, you must make arrangements with the dog's foster parents.
Pound Rescue works with animal shelters and individuals in Athens, Perry and Washington Counties. From time to time we will assist these shelters or individuals by listing their dogs on our web site. Contact information for each animal is given with the description. ADOPT A PET, SAVE A LIFE!
Pound Rescue dogs are animals that would
otherwise have died of starvation, neglect, abuse or euthanasia. PRA volunteers foster these rescued
dogs in their homes until adoption. The dogs receive vaccinations and any necessary veterinary
attention before going into foster homes. PRA provides assistance for individuals who find a stray and need help with veterinary care or adoptions.
Adopting a friend
Many wonderful dogs are waiting for homes! Pound Rescue of Athens has various breeds and mixes available for adoption. Be sure you check back often, as our list is ever-changing. We are also eager to assist you in your search for your new family member. E-mail us and let us know what kind of dog you are looking for; we have contacts in many places and may be able to make a match.

Pound Rescue is a network of foster homes; we do not have a shelter.
The dogs in Pound Rescue's program are in foster homes around Athens and the Southeast Ohio region. To learn more about your puppy or to set up an interview, contact us at (740) 594-DOGS or e-mail info@poundrescue.org. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.
Athens, Ohio is approximately 60 miles SE of Columbus, about a one and a half-hour drive. Dayton and Cincinnati are approximately three hours away. Other cities within an afternoon's driving distance are Lancaster, Chillicothe, Jackson, Belpre, Marietta and Zanesville, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; and Wheeling, Huntington and Parkersburg, WV.
