It’s Auction Time!
The Scratching Post will hold its annual fund-raising silent auction Saturday, October 11. Come shop for cat toys, cat books, cat trees, cat dishes, and cat clothing (that’s clothing for people with a cat theme, though there may be a few pieces for your feline as well). We’ll have a large variety of items, as always—including gift certificates from some of your favorite local restaurants and merchants.
For our long-time members, you’ll notice that we’re a bit off schedule; in the past we’ve held our auction in the spring, but since we moved into the new shelter building in the spring of 2008, we had to postpone the auction.
Bidding will being at 1 p.m. October 11. The auction will be held at Loveland Intermediate School, 757 South Lebanon Road, Loveland, OH 45140. Just look for the signs—we hope to see you there!

Who We Are
The Scratching Post is a nonprofit, no kill shelter for stray and abandoned cats. Our shelter is run almost entirely by volunteers, a dedicated group of people who work every day to care for the cats and help find them permanent homes.
In the spring of 2008 we moved into our new shelter building at 6948 Plainfield Road. Just two doors down from our old shelter, the new facility is a vast improvement in conditions for both the cats and our staff of volunteers. Sponsor a Cat
All cats at The Scratching Post are eligible for sponsorship. The sponsor program is great for people who are allergic to cats, those who cannot have a cat where they are living, and those who want a personalized way to donate money to the shelter.
Sponsors can donate on an annual, semi-annual or monthly basis, and will receive letters and photos from their cat letting them know about life at The Scratching Post. Send us an e-mail if you're interested in sponsoring a cat; we can match you up with one of our residents or you can visit and pick out your own sponsor cat.
Happy Tails
See some of our adopted cats at Happy Tails! This section features cats recently adopted from The Scratching Post. If you adopted a cat from us, please feel free to send a picture of your feline in their new home for us to post; we also like to include "alumni updates" in our newsletters and welcome photo submissions. If you would like to submit an update for the newsletter, please send a photo and short story about your cat (just how they're doing now is fine) to our e-mail or the shelter address below.
Adopting a Friend
Adoption hours are noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 2 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. Weekdays by appointment only; please call us at 984-6369. Most calls go to voice mail, but we promise to return all calls when chores are done for the day. We place the care of the cats we have before answering phones; please be understanding and leave a message.
Come Visit Us!
From I-71: Exit at Montgomery Road/US 22&3. Travel south on Montgomery Road to Plainfield Road (the traffic light just past the CVS drug store). Turn right on Plainfield Road. The shelter is less than 1/2 mile ahead on the right in a blue, two-story building. The Meow Mart store, run by the shelter, is located next door and has a bright red sign near the road.
From I-75 South: Exit at Galbraith Road. Turn left off the exit ramp and travel 3 miles to the intersection with Plainfield Road (just past the Dillonvale Shopping Plaza). Turn right on Plainfield Road. Travel south on Plainfield Road until you cross the railroad tracks; the shelter will be just ahead on the left. Look for the red "Meow Mart" sign by the road.
