Who We Are
ONE MORE CHANCE RESCUE and ADOPTION is a non-profit, independent, no kill organization established in January of 1999. We currently have over 230 dogs and puppies at our facility. Some are purebred but the majority are mixed breeds from toy poodle size up to St. Bernard size and from three month old puppies to 8-10 year old adults. Most of these dogs were rescued from animal shelters within hours of being put to sleep.
We believe that approximately 95% of all dogs taken in by animal shelters can be adopted out if enough focus is placed on their rehabilitation. Our volunteers work with these future pets providing re-education, proper socialization, behavior problem solving, obedience training and medical care. Some have become part of our Pet Therapy Program going to retirement homes and hospitals and others are included in our educational presentation to schools on pet care.
All times, supplies, and money donated to ONE MORE CHANCE RESCUE and ADOPTION go to providing the physical and medical care and well being of the dogs at the facility.
It is our goal to not have another dog put to sleep for problems that can be treated and worked out. Euthanization should never be a solution to the problem, only a last choice.

Anyone interested in adopting a dog from One More Chance must fill out an adoption application and be approved by a panel of 4 One More Chance personnel and meet the following requirements.
Must be 18 years of age or older to adopt.
NO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS &
NO ADOPTIONS FARTHER THAN 150 MILES FROM SPRINGFIELD, OHIO
Must have a fenced in yard.
Must meet expectations of a kind caring, and compassionate pet owner upon one on one personal interview with One More Chance director.
Must call back within 72 hours to confirm sincerity of adoption. This allows time to discuss all aspects of the possible new pet with the entire family.
Newly qualified adopters are required to come visit the dog they are interested in at our facility with the entire family before releasing the pet.
A phone check is made to qualified applicant's veterinarian to confirm the general care of their past or present pets.
The only reason an on-site adoption is allowed is if a puppy under 4 months is being adopted. This helps keep stress of a kennel environment out of the picture.
There is a complete comeback policy if the dog or puppy does not work out.
If you should decide to adopt one of our loving dogs, both you and the dog will benefit. The dog will become part of a loving home and you will be getting an unbelievably devoted companion.
Every attempt is made to have the dog spayed or neutered prior to placement. All have been vaccinated and are on heartworm prevention.
If a dog is not spayed or neutered prior to placement due to age, heath, etc., the adopter must have procedure completed within 30 days of adoption. It is required that the new owner submit proof of spay and/ or neuter to a representative of One More Chance.
