Finger Lakes SPCA
Who We Are
The Finger Lakes SPCA was founded in 1949 as the Bath Animal Shelter. We are a non-profit organization, supported by private donations and local community support. We serve Steuben County in West/Central New York State and surrounding communities. We are located at 7315 State Route, just north of Bath, NY. Our Shelter hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Adoptions until 3:30 pm, please)
Adopting a Friend
Our adoption process is not difficult but it is aimed at assuring that you and your pet are good matches and will have a long and happy future together. A questionnaire gathers information about you and your family including your other pets. Then, in a brief interview, an adoption counselor and you discuss the pet you have selected and your compatibility. The adoption fees are $85.00 for dogs and $60.00 for cats. You get a lot for your money. Besides the love and companionship of your new friend, the adoption fees for dogs cover: Spaying or Neutering at a local participating Veterinarian’s office; vaccinations for Distemper, Parvo Virus, and Rabies; initial worming for Hook and Round worms and his or her dog license. Additionally, for adopting from the Shelter, your new companion will receive a free physical exam at a participating veterinarian and a free grooming at a local Pet Salon.
For cats, the adoption fees cover: Spaying or Neutering at a local Veterinarian’s office, Distemper and Rabies Vaccinations; Feline Immunodeficiency testing; Feline Leukemia testing and an initial worming. Moreover, your feline friend will have a free physical examination at a local Veterinarian’s office and a free grooming at a local Pet Salon.
Volunteering and Donations
Our Wish List is always headed up by the need for Volunteers, not only on-site helpers to socialize the many animals who stay with us and to help out at the Shelter with the many and varied jobs we have around the place, but also off-site volunteers to support our fund raising efforts, to man our Spay/Neuter Program, to coordinate the Lost Pet Support Service, to design and teach our Humane Education Program, among others. Please call if you think you could help us out in these or some other area. Our phone is (607) 776-3039.

If you are unable to adopt, there is another solution. A few years ago we initiated the "Sponsor-A-Pet" program with excellent results. A pledge of $15 a month for one year enables us to plan ahead with confidence and extend our care of orphaned animals. You may wish to join this program or continue your partication. You may also wish to give a one time donation. In any case, your support is desperately needed.!!!!
