Our Featured Pet...

Poor Lucy was thrown from a car. She wasn't injured but the cruel way she was treated before she was rescued made it hard for her to trust again. She is quickly making great strides with the love from her foster Mom and now will fall asleep purring in her arms.

OUR MISSION

The Humane Society of Livingston County through education and caring will work toward eliminating abuse and over-population of animals and aid in the prevention of their suffering within our community.

OUR PURPOSE

Provide and assist in the protection of surplus, abused and abandoned animals. To provide these animals with shelter and humane care, within the limits of the law. To assist in the placement of such animals in approved homes. Continue the spay/neuter voucher program with a future goal of a spay/neuter clinic to assist low income pet owners in Livingston County. Develop a functional foster care program. Promote and provide education services to the community. Do all of the above on a volunteer basis, without reimbursement (excluding membership and donations to the Society as a whole.) Raise funds of at least $4000 per year exclusive of grants.

Who & What We Are

Founded in 1987. The Humane Society of Livingston County (HSLC) is currently providing rescues, foster care, and adoptions for dogs and cats (excluding feral). Because of our lack of funding and foster homes we can only do this on a limited basis. We are an all volunteer organization. The HSLC also helps prevent the over population of animals through our Spay/Neuter Program. WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER. We are not funded by our County, and not part of Dog Control, so we have to rely on grants, donations, and fund-raisers to obtain money for our cause. All of our volunteers consist of caring, dedicated individuals who desire your support and assistance in helping animals who are in need of loving homes. We are seeking donations to help us reach our future goals including a spay/neuter clinic, a shelter, and community awareness programs. Our Humane Society is hoping to build a new future and with your help we can accomplish this goal.
