Say NO to Dog Breed BANS!!

These are wonderful dogs in the hands of the wrong people. Pit Bulls, Rottweillers, German Shepherds, Dobermans and many others.... they are ALL capable of being great family pets. Pit Bull Terriers used to serve our troops in Wars(that is where the 'PIT' came from, being in the Pits with soldiers) and Petey on "The Little Rascals" was a APBT!! Rotties are generally calm and very gentle dogs! Please do your research before deciding against one of these amazing breeds or mixes.

Don't BAN the Breed... BAN the Bad Owners!!

OUR FEATURED PET...

OUR FEATURED PET IS MISSY!!

What a wonderful German Rottie! Missy needs a loving home where she can get the love back that she is willing to give. She is approximately 7 years old and had been used for breeding. We had her spayed and brought up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She is housebroken. We would like to place her in a home without cats and no children under the age of 12. She does get along with other dogs, but would need a "meet and greet" with your dog(s) prior to placement. She would be brought to your home for this. She is currently residing at the kennel and roams the yard with a yellow lab (male) and sheltie (female). Her favorite pasttime is relaxing; she is a couch potato type. Please give this gal a forever loving home. Reduced adoption fee.

WHO WE ARE

Rescue Me - Purebred K9 Rescue, Inc. is a not-for-profit rescue formed by a group of women wanting to provide an alternative placement for people and their dogs needing to find a home for their dog under special circumstances - death in the family, child becomes allergic, moving to another state or into an apartment, etc. Some people find it very difficult to surrender their dog to a Humane Society; we provide the alternative. We do not receive any grants or outside funding at this time, and all our expenses are covered via adoption fees and donations. Our staff consist of volunteers (most holding down full-time jobs besides their volunteer work with the rescue) who love working with dogs and people.
PLEASE SEE OUR NEW WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION!

FOSTER CARE PROGRAM...

Our foster care program is very rewarding!! You would foster one of our dogs until they find their forever home and this allows us to know more about the dog in a family situation. Being in the kennel is not the same as being in a real home. We cannot save dogs without our foster homes; they are the core of our organization. We rely on them heavily and appreciate them more than they will ever know. Rescue Me will provide you with whatever supplies you may need and we cover all approved veterinary care. What you provide is a loving, stable, and happy environment while our dogs await their forever family to find them.
Being a foster 'parent' is very rewarding and gives you great pride in giving a dog a second chance. It's fun for the entire family!
Most people do not want to foster a dog because they are afraid to get attached. You most likely will get attached but then the perfect home comes along and you think.... "It's a great home where they will receive love... and then I can save another one and give another dog a second chance." Whether you help save one dog or many, you will have made a difference. If you cannot foster, there are others ways you can help - transport, make and take phone calls, attend adoption clinics, assist with paperwork, etc.

Denise Carr, Foster Care Coordinator, would be glad to discuss either of these programs with you. Call her at (315) 861-5351 or email at dogfriends@frontiernet.net.

WEEKEND WAGGLE PROGRAM...

We have a "Weekend Waggle" program (application to fill out and be approved) where a family can take a dog home for the weekend. There are many families that do not have time for a dog but might like a temporary dog to enjoy while hiking or camping. If this is the case with your family, please let us know and we will let you take a dog home for the weekend (picking one that fits into your family's lifestyle).

Our "Adopt a Rescue Me Dog" program is a great program for kids as a school project, Sunday School project, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. We will bring the dog to visit the children in the organization, have their picture taken with them, and follow the dog through his journey to his new home.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

A dog is truly "Man's Best Friend" because they don't care if you are having a bad hair day, if you're not wearing the latest styles, or you didn't clean the house today! A dog will love you when you are happy and be concerned when you are sad. Please e-mail or call for an application, and we will see that you receive one via e-mail or snail mail.

Training your dog is Important!!

We truly believe that a happy pet is a trained pet! The majority of dogs that are surrendered to us are due to lack of training. Dogs prefer you to be the boss (alpha) so they don't have to bear that 'burden"; though they will if they think they have to be. That is when problems begin! If you train your child properly, you should also train your dog. Training a canine to sit, stay, down, off and all the basics are very important, though it is equally important for the training to continue throughout their lives. It is never too late to obedience train your dog. "Rescue Me' has local Trainers that have volunteered to help us make our dogs more adoptable. In return we are very happy to give their name out for a recommendation. There are many trainers out there and some have different techniques; we are not saying their way is the only way. However we are saying that no matter who the trainer is... the same goal is in mind.... A Happy Canine with a Happy Owner!! Everyone loves a well behaved child. Well, they also love a well behaved dog. We highly recommend you obedience train your new dog with your local trainer.

Special Thanks!

Most importantly we would like to thank all of our volunteers and foster homes. Those who donate their time, homes, monies and love to save a dog in need. Without you, we wouldn't exist. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ***
