Our Featured Pet...

91281 Brandy

91281 Brandy!

Brandy currently holds the record of all our shelter dogs; she has been there the longest! Not a great record to have. Brandy is current on vaccines, spayed, and had a cyst removed from her back. She is all set to go home. Brandy likes belly rubs and is very affectionate. Brandy is a talker, she will be the first to tell you her wants and needs. How about giving Brandy the home she deserves, she has been here way too long.

Mission Statement

To balance the health, public safety, and welfare needs of the people and animals in the Town of Babylon; providing nourishment and a safe environment for stray, impounded, and owner surrendered animals; responsibly enforcing state laws and local ordinances; and finding new loving homes for homeless animals at our shelter.

Who We Are

The Town of Babylon covers 53 square miles and is serviced by 4 Animal Control Officers who enforce Article 7 of the Agriculture and Markets Law of New York State and the Local Laws and Ordinances of the Town of Babylon. A radio operator who handles complaints from residents dispatches over 5,000 calls per year to the Animal Control Officers. In addition to the Animal Control Officers, there are 3 kennel attendants to care for the 3,600 animals which enter the shelter each year. The attendants also maintain the kennels and assist the public to adopt and redeem dogs. There is an adoption rate of over 80%. The office staff consists of clerical staff who handle the daily transactions for redemptions and adoptions as well as other office duties. The shelter is under the direct charge of the animal shelter Supervisor who administers the operation of the shelter.
