Who We Are
The Noah's Ark Project, nonprofit organization, is deeply involved in animal welfare. We are dedicating our efforts to help homeless cats and dogs to get a second chance in life. Our organization began because of the impossibility of rescuing 10 abandoned and starving cats from the streets of Astoria, New York. Realizing that no matter what available resources existed, the rescue organizations would not have enough space to house and care for them. This is due to the increasing birthrate of the pet population, which far exceeds the resources available for rescues and adoptions. Launched in January 2000 The Noah's Ark Project Educational Program was the first program that involved educators, parents and students in elementary schools in seeking solutions to pet overpopulation and high birthrate among cats and dogs in New York City. Through informational videos, slides and distribution of brochures, this Project offers alternatives to abandonment of pets in the streets and as a consequence, reducing their killing at the hands of the city agency.
