Hi, I'm Dierdra! :-) My roommates and I are looking for homes of our own with families to love. TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
Directions (from I-84): Get off at Newburgh exit for Route 9W South. Stay on 9W for approx. 5 miles and you come to the exit for Route 218/Cornwall. About 1/4 mile on Route 218 you will see Main Street (second street on the right). Make that right onto Main Street and go straight until you get to the traffic light. Immediately after going straight through the traffic light, you will make a left into the Town Hall parking lot. Park anywhere in that parking area and walk to my kennel located behind the Town Hall next to the basketball courts. (from Woodbury Commons): Take Rt. 32 North for approximately 10 miles and you will come to a traffic light. Make a right onto Quaker Ave., stay on that road and you will come to a traffic circle. Go around the traffic circle to the 4th road... that will be Main St (Cantebury Inn at end of road you need to turn onto). Go straight until you see your 2nd traffic light. Make a right into the Town Hall parking lot just BEFORE that 2nd light. Park anywhere in the lot and walk around the back to the dog shelter.
What You Can Do
Cornwall Dog Shelter is always in need of cleaning supplies (Pine Sol, Lysol, bleach, laundry detergent), dog food, both dry and canned, rawhide chews, snacks and cookies, as well as toys, leashes and collars. Anyone who would like to volunteer and help with training and/or taking dogs out for walks/exercise, please call to set up an appointment. Volunteer walkers are especially needed on weekends.
Adopting a Friend
The Dog Control Office is open from Monday thru Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Anyone may stop by during those hours to see the dogs and pick up or fill out an application. Call and give me your name and address or FAX number and I can send you one. Until I can get the application set up to be online with this website, that's the best I can do. If you need to make an appointment for after hours, please call my office and I will be more than happy to schedule an appointment to show you a dog. Please remember, most of our dogs come from unknown backgrounds therefore we do not know if they are good with cats, small children, etc. If you own a dog and are looking to adopt, I suggest bringing your current dog with you to be introduced before making a final decision.
