Raimondo has been rescuing animals for many years. Who is "A Cause for Paws?" How can I help? To adopt To volunteer To donate A Cause for Paws
Twelve years ago Tony began to notice a large number of strays in and around
the buildings he owns and manages in the Bronx. He was moved to take them
in and provide them with veterinary care until he found them permanent homes.
Four years ago he and co-founder Lydia DesRoche began actively increasing
their outreach to the animals. They gradually put in more of their time and
money.
In June 2000 they formed A Cause for Paws and were granted 501(c)3 status.
They began recruiting a group of volunteers and forming a network of Veterinarians,
boarding facilities and foster families to help care for their dogs and cats.
We are a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We have no shelter
of our own, so we foster and board all of our animals until we can find them
loving homes. We rescue our animals from the streets of New York City (and
surrounding areas) and from local kill shelters. Our goal is to educate the
public about the benefits of spaying and neutering, create awareness about
the consequences of breeding and buying and continue to save the lives of
animals.
If you want to directly help save the lives of New York City's homeless
animals, you can volunteer with us (in a variety of opportunities) or send
us a tax-deductible donation. Every penny of your donation goes directly towards
the care of rescued animals looking for loving homes.
Visit our adoption booth on Sunday from Noon to 4:00 PM outside The Pet
Health Store (81st and Amsterdam Ave., New York City). Please bring a photo ID. If your
application is approved, we will deliver your new pet to your home. The minimum
adoption fee is $150 for dogs and $100 for cats, which helps us cover
the cost of medical care and boarding of our animals.
Stop by our booth at The Pet Health Store (81st and Amsterdam, NYC) anytime on Sunday
between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, call us at (212) 340-1020 and leave us a message
or check out our volunteer opportunities online.
We'll show you how fun and rewarding saving lives can be.
