Pet of the Month
Our pets of the month are Mojo and Snuggles. They came to DHR when their owner moved to a home that did not allow pets. Snuggles is a maltese and Mojo a peke. Please see their individual descriptions for more info!

Doggiehaven is taking in 5 silver standard poodles, which range in age of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 yrs of age. More info will be available once they are vet checked, and assessed for health, temperament and behavioral issues
!"Who We Are
We are a privately run rescue program helping stray and homeless pets in the Albany NY area. All pets are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and available to approved homes. . Our goal is to educate owners in proper animal care, and offer training help to those who may be considering giving up a pet. We are STRICTLY a non-kill program(except in cases of severe medical/aggression issues) so space is limited at this time. PLEASE DO NOT CALL ASKING FOR HOURS AND LOCATION. WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY SUCH AS A PUBLIC ANIMAL SHELTER .RECUES TYPICALLY DO NOT HAVE ANY "ONE LOCATION" AND THEREFORE EVERYTHING IS BY APPT AT THE CONVIENCE OF THE VOLUNTEERS/FOSTER HOMES.
Adopting a Friend
Potential adopters are asked to fill out an application, submit 2 personal references(or preferrably a vet reference), and have a "home visit" where we can see the living enviroment for the pets as well as ascertain whether or not a good match is likely. ALL dogs go out under a contract as well. A nominal adoption fee is charged to help offset the medical and housing expenses. DOGS CAN BE MET BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and only after references have been checked.!!!.Due to the high volume of calls and emails, it may take us a few days to get back to you..please be patient! Typically, we try to adopt in a 1 1/2 hr radius of Albany NY, although exceptions are made from time to time, it is on a case by case basis. DHR reserves the right to refuse any and all adoptions **WE DO NOT SHIP PETS!!** Please provide all pertinent information in EMAIL to facilatate processing of application((your info, household members ages , rent/own, fence or no fence, vet info, your info, current/previous pets, which dog you are applying for and LOCATION!!!!) Emails not containing this information will not be responded to.
Volunteering and Donations-
Come Visit Us! Currently the dogs are available to be seen by appointment only,a t the convience of the volunteers/foster homes.. If there is a particular dog you are interested in we would be happy to schedule an appointment. ( Call us at the main number 518 286 1177 9am-8pm for more information, or an appointment to meet these wonderful furkids! Please remember..WE CAN NOT RETURN LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS.. and we try to stay within 1 1/2 hrs of Albany NY for adoptions..PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: EMAILS THAT CONTAIN IMBEDDED IMAGES OR ATTACHMENTS WILL BE DELETED. WE HAVE A VERY HIGH VOLUME OF MAIL AND EVERYONE IS A VOLUNTEER. PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME, AND SPECIFIC QUESTIONS THAT ARE NOT ADDRESSED IN THE BIOS AS WELL AS SOME INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF/LIVING ENVIROMENT(KIDS, AGES, OTHER PETS LOCATIONS ETC) AS THIS WILL HELP FACILITATE ADOPTIONS.
