Dedicated to the loving and devoted protection
of needy and abandoned pets in Fallon, Nevada

CAPS cannot believe the response it has gotten from this Petfinder page. We have made some great friendships and found some wonderful forever homes for our animals. Currently we have 15 dogs and 12 cats in our shelter.
The dogs love their inside/outside kennels and the wonderful play yards, where they can hang out with their buddies. We also have added a great meet-and-greet area at the shelter. This is a place where volunteers can sit with the dogs or possible adopters can visit with the dogs or introduce our dogs to their current pets. The cats are doing great in their cat room. The community has been wonderful in helping us furnish this room with new cat trees and scratchers, as well as beds, tents, toys, etc.

The Churchill Animal Protection Society (CAPS) is an
incorporated, nonprofit, no-kill, tax-exempt organization formed in May 1986. The shelter relies on donations from the community to keep the animals in good health and fed. CAPS' major goal is to find homes for the countless dogs and cats who have been
abandoned, are born strays, or are no longer wanted by their families for a variety of reasons. All the animals will be here with us until a permanent home can be found for them.

Also, we educate the community on the importance of spaying or neutering their current pets. We have a low-cost spay/neuter program at the shelter with the following qualifications: you must be a resident of Churchill County (proven with a picture ID), and you must present us with your 1040 from last year to prove that you made under $30,000. Bring this stuff in, and we can give you a voucher to one of the local vets. The cost is $20.00 for males and $25.00 for females. If you are on Medicaid or Nevada Check-Up, bring in your ID and your card, and we can get you set up with a voucher through Maddie's fund. The cost is $10.00 for cats and $20.00 for dogs. For more information on these programs, call the shelter at (775)423-7500.

Volunteering and Donations
We are always in need of caring animal
lovers to help us in our quest to give the best loving care to our special cats and dogs. If you live in the area and would like to volunteer, please call or email us using the info below.
VOLUNTEER ROLES:

DOGS - Come out and spend some time with our dogs. The dogs need time to socialize with people in order to remain adoptable. Walk the dogs around the property, play ball with them in the play yard, brush their beautiful coats, or just sit and visit with them.

CATS - Cats need socialization, too. Spend some time in our cat room brushing, playing, or just cuddling with a variety of cats and kittens. Also, spend some time with the five office cats who have the run of the place.
