Our Featured Pet...
Mr. Magoo!
Mr. Magoo is an adorable and very cute ~10 years old Chihuahua mix. His coloring is charcol with some white markings. Mr. Magoo is blind. He is missing both eyes. We don't know how this came about. He came to us this way. He was found as a stray wondering in the middle of the street and was almost hit by a car. He is not hindered at all by his blindness. He gets up and down on the couch and goes in and out the dog door and gets around the house very well. He sometimes needs help back into the house from the yard. He gets along with other dogs as long as he is not run over by them. He will need to be closely supervised so he does not get lost and wonder in the street ever again. He has been Vet examined, has current vaccinations, is neutered and is negative for heart worm. Magoo's blood work showed that he has a low thyroid, so he needs a daily thyroid pill but is otherwise in good health. He is a very sweet and good boy! He will make a great pet and companion for someone. Click on the link above Magoo's photo to find out more about our wonderful Mr. Magoo!

Who We Are
S.P.O.T.S. In New Mexico, Inc. (Saving Pets Out There Somewhere In New Mexico, Inc.) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation, and a no-kill, volunteer animal rescue group. S.P.O.T.S. was started in 1997 by Mary Waller-Hunter, who is the head of the organization. We specialize in rescue of abandoned and abused animals. We are no strangers to medically challenged animals. Some animals come to S.P.O.T.S. in healthy condition; others need more extensive medical care. Cats are Feline Leukemia tested. All animals are checked by veterinarians, spayed or neutered and then vaccinated. Dogs are heart worm tested. All other medical needs are meet before pets are placed for adoption.
Our goal is to find permanent, loving homes for the animals we rescue. We take placing animals very seriously. No one likes to be rejected. Careful screening is done to find the best home possible for each animal. Until we find a permanent home, foster parents open their hearts and homes to the animals. We look for people who are committed to providing a lifetime of love. Sometimes this takes months; S.P.O.T.S. will keep all animals until we find them a home.

S.P.O.T.S. offers advice on training and refers pet owners to professionals, gives placement suggestions to owners, and informs and educates the public on the proper and humane treatment of animals.
