We provide animal control to the Borough of Paramus and Borough of Maywood only. We do not accept animals from other towns, or owner surrendered animals.
Do you have a volunteer program?
No. At this time we do not have a volunteer program.
What care do you provide for your animals?
All of our animals (except the furry little critters) are spayed or neutered before they leave our shelter. Cats and dogs are provided with rabies/distemper shots. Cats are tested for feline leukemia, and AIDS (and must be negative for both to be placed up for adoption).
We welcome any questions or comments you have. Please call (201)649-0710 or email us at paramus_animal_shelter@yahoo.com.
Our hours of operation are: Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm, and Monday through Friday from 9am-7pm. We are closed on ALL holidays. For information about animals for adoption or to make an appointment to meet an animal,
call the shelter direct at (201)649-0710. We recommend that you call ahead of time before visiting, to make sure that someone is available to show the animals. Thank you for your cooperation.
1)You must fill out an application, and provide us with a valid driver's license. All potential adopters must be 21 years of age or older.
2)You will then meet the animal(s), and decide which one(s) you are interested in.
3)We review your application before making a final decision. Please note it make take up to 3 business days for your application to be approved. We reserve the right to reject any and all applications.
4)Once approved, you come in and complete the necessary adoption paperwork to adopt the animal(s).
Everyone living in the immediate household must come in to meet the animal(s). This is so that the animal gets to meet and interact with everyone before going home.
Please note we DO NOT do same day adoptions.
If you have another dog, and are interested in adopting a dog from us, you must bring your dog in to meet our dog(s).
