Who We Are...
Bergen County Animal Shelter
100 United Lane
Teterboro, New Jersey 07608
We are a county operated shelter providing animal control to 50 communities in Bergen County. We accept owned animals for a fee from our contracted communities. If space permits, we will accept owned animals from other Bergen County towns. We are almost always operating at our capacity for dogs. Please call the shelter to find out if cages are available for other animals. Before bringing in a stray, call the police department of the town in which the animal is found to determine the appropriate agency that provides animal control for that community.
Adoptions...
Dogs, Cats, Birds, Rabbits, Ferrets, Guinea Pigs and other pocket pets - All animals must be spayed or neutered before leaving. While we try to keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible, we cannot guarantee an animal will still be available when you arrive. We do not have the staff to maintain a waiting list. Because of that, we try to post the highly adoptable animals when they become available to give people a chance to get to the shelter the next day. If you see a puppy, kitten or a small dog, chances are it will be adopted quickly. If you take the time to email us or call, you might lose a chance at adopting. The shelter is swamped with hundreds of phone calls each day, so often you will only get our machine. We do not ship animals, you must come to the shelter for the adoption.
