If you have adopted from us or Metro Pets/Westside Animal Rescue and need to give up your adopted pet to us, we will take them back right away and happily find foster care. Due to an overwhelming amount of owner surrendered cats and rescued cats and kittens, we are closed for general intake from the public until further notice.

Who We Are

Only Hope Cat Rescue, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster home based rescue organization. Each founding member has been rescuing needy, lost, abused and abandoned animals since we were young girls. I guess you could say fate has brought us together. With each success, our rescues have increased from 1 or 2 a year to 10 to 20 per month. Our driving force is our mutual love for animals and our support of each other's needs during crisis situations. We have put together quite an extended family of cat lovers, who have given our rescues wonderful, loving homes. We never expected that from this passion of ours, we would meet so many interesting and wonderful people.

Our philosophy is animals feel. They feel joy, love, worry, fear, pain, mourning, hunger, warm, cold and more. They love to lay on your heater in the sun on a cold winter day. They love to greet you when you come home from a long day at work. They seek your comfort when they are tired, lonely or scared. They are grateful when you recognize their feelings and come to their rescue.

We are just trying to make a difference in as many needy animals lives as we can.

News PERI & WINKLE ARE LOSING THEIR HOME, NEED URGENT PLACEMENT. These two perfect kitties were rescued when they were only 3 days old with their mom in 2002. They are now 6 years old and their owner can no longer keep them. She has fallen on hard financial times coupled with a debilitating illness. She is heartbroken and can barely hold back her tears as she explains that they are the most perfect cats she has ever owned. "They are lovable, scratching post trained, never miss the litter box and cuddle with each other every day." They need to be placed together as they are very bonded. Animal rescue is a painful and heart wrenching life. We encounter cruelties and suffering most people never see. However, we experience great joy when these little lives get all the love and care they deserve and we continue to fight for them.

The following is a letter from one of our adopters:

"Hi Jasmin,
I can only imagine the stories you have to tell me! I've been reading your website, and I noticed just now a bunch of the pictures I saw a few days ago are gone! Which means you found all those little guys homes!....

Do you believe me now that it isn't just the cats that are getting themselves adopted??? You have a way with these cats, they are ALL extremely docile and friendly. All of them seem like great cats to have in the house. And I think the only thing people may be basing their adoptions on are the color/sex of the cats.

You and your team must spend alot of time bringing each and every one of these cats around. All of them come from the saddest most sordid tales I have ever heard. Before you I had no idea that so many were put down every day. And I been reading the stories on your site, and I don't know how anyone can treat a living being the way some of the orphans have been. I think alot has to do with awareness....and you guys have been really good at getting that thru to the public on your website."
Adopting a friend We have many programs and events to help you find your new cat or kitten. We are based in New Jersey and Manhattan. We believe there is a perfect pet for the right person or family and we work tirelessly to find that match. We look forward to meeting you at our next adoption day!! Come Visit Us! Please visit us. We have adoption events every Saturday from 12:30-5pm. Meet our babies at Pet Town, located on First Avenue between 87th and 88th Streets. It is a great weekend of first meetings, adoptions and visits from our extended family of resue owners. Please note: Our adoption events are in New York City. If you are unable to come to NYC, give us a call anyway as we may be able to accomodate you. We will adopt within 60 miles of the NYC area.
