Our Pet List

Who We Are...

The Monmouth County SPCA is a private, non-profit organization funded primarily by donations and fees. We are not affiliated with the ASPCA in New York City, or the Humane Society. The Monmouth County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has been caring for homeless and abandoned animals for over 50 years. We are an Open Admissions shelter that does not euthanize adoptable pets. Our adorable adoptables stay with us for as long as it takes to find a forever home.

Please stop by or phone 542-0040 to see if the pet of your dreams is available!

For events - Please check out our website at www.monmouthcountyspca.org and click on "News and Events" at the top of the page. Thanks!

Adoptions...

It's easy to adopt one of our loving pets! Our shelter provides a refuge to approximately 3,500 homeless animals annually. A veterinary technician examines each animal entering the shelter to evaluate its health and temperament. We want each pet to get a healthy start. Before a pet goes to it's new home, they have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed, cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and AIDS and dogs for Heartworm.

Adoption Fees

Our fees cover spraying/neutering, microchipping, rabies and distemper shots, feline leukemia testing in cats, heartworm testing in dogs, ear cleaning, worming, flea treatment(if old enough), nail clipping and tlc at no charge. Please check out our Adoption Fees on our website at www.monmouthcountyspca.org/adoptions.htm .

The Monmouth County SPCA has joined PETsMART's successful Luv-A-Pet Program. Through this program Shelter pets are available for adoption at the store located on Route 36 in West Long Branch. .

To adopt a MCSPCA pet, you must be at least 21 years old. A staff member will be happy to introduce you to prospective pets staying in the shelter and to answer your questions.

Services...

Each year our Humane Education Department visits 7,000 students in Monmouth County, bringing films, information, and occasionally an SPCA animal. During these visits, children not only learn about pet care, but about endangered species and environmental issues that affect all living beings. We offer humane education materials to teachers who want to follow up on our visits.

Through our Pet Therapy Program volunteers take pets to nursing homes to brighten up the lives of shut-in patients. These visits help to alleviate the loneliness and frustration of the elderly, who enjoy the purr of a kitten or the antics of a puppy. Our volunteers find the experience rewarding as well, and the animals thrive on the cuddling they receive during these visits.

Contributions...

Contributors to the MCSPCA receive our newsletter and invitations to special events. All contributions are tax deductible but, by far, the greatest benefit to friends of the SPCA is knowing that your generosity has helped an abandoned, unloved, or suffering animal. Send your contributions, along with your name, address and phone number to the address shown below. Or donate online over our secure server provided by the non-profit organization Groundspring- click on the pink button!
